Biography

Vorotemnar
↠ they / them
↠ Warden

Voro is a stoic perfectionist, who likes order and is intolerant towards disruptions. They are disliked by most of the clan's members, and even more so by any visitors to the clan's Gaol. Their quiet, methodical cleaning is punctuated by a tendency to lash out when others disobey them or get in their way, which makes others avoid them like the plague. In calmer moments, they don't quite know how to talk to people, and often seem exasperated by others.
_____As Warden of the Outskirts, Voro oversees the lair's prison cells, and any of it's detainees. Of course, it is very rare for the clan to have prisoners, but on the occasions when the Guards apprehend a dragon wrecking havoc on the lair, it is Voro's job to detain them until Actaea decides how to proceed. When there is no one to oversee- and even when there is- Voro can be found cleaning, organising, and writing in their closely-guarded journal.
_____Their viciousness towards prisoners had been rewarded in their previous clans, but here it isolates them. Therefore, Voro is quite lonely, and would like a friend or partner who understands them. They are slowly growing close with Nanwë who seems to have taken an inexplicable interest in them, but Voro is very grateful for his company. They are not quite sure what to make of the gifts and outings the Undertide takes them on, but accept them all, privately very happy.

Relationships

83875349.png Nanwë is a fellow Guard who watches over the clan's hatchlings. He is the closest to Voro of the clan members, and often presents Voro with gifts and asks them to accompany him on leisurely outings in and around the lair.

'Picnic'

__._ "What?" Voro says, with narrowed eyes.
___"Nothing," Nanwë replies with a small smile, eyes dancing with light.
___"Its clearly not 'nothing'," Voro protests quietly, beginning to feel self-conscious as they fastidiously de-bone the fish the Undertide had just hunted for them. This had been a new ritual of theirs; the Undertide bringing them food to share, and then watching them with an expectant- even hopeful- look on his face. "Thank you for the fish."
___"You're very welcome," Nanwë purrs, doing a small wriggle of delight in the sandbank before seeing Voro's barely-disguised look of disgust at the sand now powdering his sides. Nanwë backs up into the water a little, doing a sort of gentle shimmy before re-emerging with a clean and glistening hide.
___The pair are sitting by one of the Outskirts biggest ponds. It is still dwarfed by the Peak's great lake, but still wide and deep enough to happily accommodate one slippery Undertide. It is mostly surrounded by undergrowth which creeps right to the edge of the water, so that many small creatures feel safe to drink here, until they spot the dragons on the opposite bank. Voro and Nanwë's usual spot is on the short span of sandy beach, which slopes gently down to the water. Voro sets down their blanket, before ridding their feet of any sand or dirt and settling there carefully. Nanwë never tries to join them on the blanket, much to the Wildclaw's relief, he expects.
___It has been a while since the pair met, Voro muses, watching the Undertide nose at a smudge on his side. Further down, below the venomous spines, is the now mostly-faded scratch that Voro had tended to themself. Which was the least they could do, really, since they had inflicted it. The Undertide doesn't have arms, and his suggestion of 'licking it better' had been stomach-churning, and Voro wasn't so heartless as to leave his wounds festering. So they'd cleaned and bandaged his wound carefully.
___"Do you like hunting?" Voro asks, hazarding a guess as to why the Undertide might be so keen in bringing them food. It wasn't the first time Voro had tried to get an answer on this subject, or any other that involved the Undertide bringing them gifts.
___"I suppose so," Nanwë muses, not seeming as enthusiastic as Voro might have guessed. "There's not so many fish in the Outskirts, and they're usually small when I find them anyway. The Great Lake has a lot of good ones, but then there not as fresh by the time I bring them to you. But its a fun challenge!"
___This is surprising, Voro finds, and rather flattering. There is some sort of warm fluttering feeling low in their stomach, which is perhaps hunger, so they begin to use the tips of their claws to break their thoroughly-deboned fish into bite sized pieces. Its easiest to bring to their mouth this way, rather than eating in the manner of Undertides, which seems to be rather like a toridae; tearing it to pieces under water before eating them in large chunks. "You could just bring me something from the hoard, if you want a picnic."
___Nanwë looks aghast. "Of course not! I must find you the best!"
___"Because you pushed me into the moat?"
___"I didn't push you!"
___"Well, I suppose not. But then why else are you going out of your way?"
___Nanwë opens their mouth, eyes blazing with passion, before closing it again, averting his eyes.
___"Hm? What is it?"
___"Nothing," Nanwë says, looking almost shy now.
___"Don't say its 'nothing' again!"
___He shimmies again, shifting back into the water, until he is submerged from the wings down. Like this, he looks like a giant snake.
___"Don't run away, either!"
___"I’m not! It’s just, if you don't know…” His nose dipped into the water as he seemed to ponder his apparent predicament, bubbles rising in streams with every exhale. Then, he raises his head, eyes blazing, and declared, “Then, I’ll just have to try harder!"
___“What?”
___"I will try harder!” Nanwë repeats, as though this might clarify anything for the bewildered Wildclaw. “Wait here, I’m going to get you more fish. Bigger ones! Better ones!”
___"W-Wait! What kind of answer-“
___But Nanwë plunges back below the water before Voro can finish their question, leaving ripples in his wake.
___ What in Sornieth was that about? Voro wonders.
___Without the Undertide here, Voro can focus on the cool breeze, and can scent the many smells of the scrubland and its inhabitants. The creek that feeds this pond trickles quietly, and Voro can hear the rustling sounds of small critters in the undergrowth nearby. Birds call to each other as they wheel through the air, and more distantly, dragons roar. Nothing too vicious or territorial, that Voro may have to be worried about, but rather the joyful, instinctive calls that bubble up when one feels excited and safe.
___Voro hadn’t heard such sounds for a long time. The sounds of a clan, the sounds of life.
___Somehow it almost feels lonely.
