Biography

Naidis
↠ she / her
↠ Clan Hunter

As the clan's hunter, Naidis is a force to be reckoned with. She is an exceptional hunter, and will happily spend all day every day out in the forest surrounding the lair and beyond it boundaries for prey. This can tend to get her in trouble, as 'clan territories' have little meaning to her. In fact, one could almost go as far as to say Naidis' presence in the clan is what necessitates the roles of the delegates. But she always brings food home at the end of the day and she helps keep several clanmates in their jobs, so what is the problem?
_____Some members of the clan find her quite scary, and Alnazar won't let her near the clan's familiar residences. However, she isn't one for violence, and only enjoys hunting so much because she finds it satisfying to provide food for the whole clan (familiars included, Alnazar!).
_____Her mate is Actaea, though they do not spend much time together at all, mostly due to how busy he is. However when they do meet, it is nice to just sit quietly, and talk about little things, or nothing at all.
_____If she is with someone, it is likely to be her son, Sercë. Surprisingly, it is Sercë that chose Naidis' outfit, when he was a barely older than a hatchling. He picked out all the fabrics and colours he thought would suit her, and shyly presented it. She does remove it when she hunts, but otherwise takes pride in it (though she has no idea if it looks any good or not). Sercë would be mortified if anyone found out he chose it, but is secretly very happy that his mother wears it still.
_____Naidis takes him with her to hunt when she thinks he is frustrated or upset. They don't usually talk, and in the rare moments that Sercë does open up, she never knows how to respond. However, he just needs someone to listen, and Naidis will always give him that.

CLAN ROLES
Clan leader: Actaea
Serious and usually calm. Actaea is rational and a great decision-maker. He will take into account the wishes of the majority, and sees maintaining the peace of the clan as his most vital role. His current mate is Naidis.

Trainer of the Guards: Irime
She's a little strange, like those dragons that you never quite know if they are joking or not. And her sense of humour is dark. Her clan is her family, andd is the most important thing to her, so god help you if you endanger them!

Captain of the Guard: Serce
Sercë is undoubtedly a strong fighter, but his ruthlessness is most strongly utilised in tactical planning. He found himself as Captain of the Guard due to his leadership skills. He sees himself as a protector of the clan, but does not yet value its members enough to be relied upon in times of crisis.

Guards:
  • Narya is wild, and as such is avoided by just about everyone except her siblings and parents. She is a ferocious fighter and spends her days training.
  • Agarwaen is both a guard and an opportunistic gladiator, who was recruited into the clan by Narya.
  • Mahta is a younger guard who still has a lot to learn, but is eager to try his best.
  • Kormel primarily spends her time guarding the hatchlings. She is very fond of Raya and Torval, and occasionally entertains the hatchlings for a few hours to give them a break.

Assassin: Hloire
Hloire is the clan's assassin who works primarily as a spy, because the clan is peaceful enough not to need to assassinate any enemies.

Treasurer: Louis
No one else seems to think allowing this opulent golden imperial is a bad idea, or perhaps they'd just rather not look into the clan's finances. Louis puts clan aesthetics above all else and considers it to be a constant project.

Head healer: Alatáriel
An incredibly skilled healer, but would rather slack off let others do the healing. They're a snob, and get along with just a handful of people. However, they are very intelligent, and are happy to take on students, though at least partially because then they don't have to do as much work...

Healers-in-training:
  • Hikari is a guard, along with his two sisters, however his real passion lies in healing. He trains under Alatáriel in secret, and has quite the crush on his teacher.
  • Nadi finds healing quite interesting, though leans towards more unorthodox methods. Her experiments amuse the way-too-tolerant Alatáriel, but terrify the rest of the clan who would rather just bear with their injuries than risk further harm from her 'treatments'.

Lead delegate: Orodruin
Actaea may be the clan's leader, but Orodruin is the figurehead. He works on maintaining positive relationships with neighbouring clans. He is closest to Actaea.

Secondary delegates:
Curufinwë hopes to inherit his father's role one day, and knows that having established relationships with external figures will help enormously. He isn't passionate about being a delegate so much as preparing for the day when he takes over the clan.
Chimes will take any excuse to travel, and she happens to be very good at navigating relationships with neighbouring clans. She's a peacemaker, and wants to be on good terms with all other clans (most definitely not just because she wants to be able to travel the world in peace).

Beastclan Ambassador: Alexander
Alexander is passionate about forming meaningful relationships with the clan's Beastclan neighbours, and erasing the stigma and animosity between them more widely.

Scout: Hariwake
When she isn't busy playing peacekeeper between her sister and brother, Hariwake scouts the clan's territory for threats or visitors.

Nursery head: Raya
Raya cares for all the hatchlings as they become stronger. She is expert at fostering enough independence in them that they will leave the clan excited for adventure.

Teacher: Torval
Torval's role is to prepare hatchlings with the skills to go into the world. The hatchlings generally hate being taught anything governmental, so Torval relents by teaching them about different breeds of dragons and the many Beastclans.

Beast Keeper: Alnazar
Alnazar is happiest when surrounded by the clan's familiars. He knows each of them, and is pretty much loved by all of them. He doesn't interact with the other clan members all that much, as he always has his hands full, but appreciates those who develop bonds with their familiars.

Messenger: Gledistia
Unlike the delegates, Gleditsia does not work to keep the peace of the clan. That's not to say he doesn't want peace, but all that stuff isn't very fun. He often gets distracted on expeditions when he stumbles across rare or beautiful plants, as he loves botany. All of his clan think he has a bad sense of direction and has to stop to ask for directions, but he really just enjoys being out and about.

Tacticians:
Currently, both Curufinwë and Serce work as tacticians for the clan, in addition to their other roles. They are supposed to work together, however Serce detests his half-brother and Curufinwë puts little effort into remedying that. Curufinwë is a good leader and has a good understanding of what is best for the clan, while Serce is very intelligent and intuitive in his plans. They would make a great team, but that is perhaps a long-term goal.

Chief Hoarder Hoard Keeper: Indis
Indis is your stereotypical dragon in that she loves to accumulate and hoard things. She takes everything gold and shiny that may prove useful to the clan.

Hoard sorters: Hiswë and Marilla combat Indis' hoarding tendecies, sorting everything into neat stacks and helping Artanis to find items worth selling at the market.

Hunter: Naidis
Silent as a cat and swift as a snake, once Naidis has chosen her prey, she will stalk it til the ends of the earth. This can tend to get her in trouble, as 'clan territories' surely don't count if the squirrel leads you that way.

Fisher: Luinil
Luinil is the clan's fisher and enjoys spending a lot of time gliding over lakes and oceans. Her mate is Niquis and the time they spend together is when he tags along to attempt to help her fish.

Plant Gatherer: Melmë
Melmë knows every nook and cranny of the forests that fall in the clan's territory, and their role is to collect rarer plants, primarily those with medicinal properties to be given to the clan's healers.

Insect-Keeper: Rainë
No one knows more about insects than Rainë, though there is the problem that his self-control around eating them is somewhat lacking. The only insects he doesn't eat are butterflies, which he raises as friends pets. The greenhouse in which they live is the oldest building in the clan's territory, and he is very protective over it. Vilviren helps Rainë with collecting and tending insects.

Scavenger: Melkor
Melkor is the clan's primary scavenger. He was never really allocated the role, but he would always disappear for a while and then return with armfuls of random stuff, so now he is the designated scavenger. He is very laid-back and likes to play with the hatchlings when he is not off looking for knickknacks.

Alchemist/Engineer: Salim
Though he initially intended not to stay long in the clan, he soon realised that the clan lacked anyone with interest in science (save for Nadi, though it isn't quite seen to be science by most). He appealed to Louis for an alchemy budget and the latter agreed so long as his inventions are aesthetically pleasing. Salim now works to make life easier for his clan.

Gardener: Alalme
Alalme spends most of his time tending to the clan's sprawling gardens. Though technically a farmer, his garden looks more like a jungle than any kind of orderly crops. He loves herbs and gets along well with Gledistia, who is also passionate about plants. Their shared long-term goal is to start keeping bees.

Scribe/Archivist: Haleth
Haleth's role is to keep a record of the major events of the clan. She is interested in world history and loves to impart unsolicited knowledge on others. Few members of the clan are actually interested, so she occasionally travels to neighbouring libraries to share and learn information.

Seamster: Vanima sources and alters the clans clothes, catering to the needs of its varied members.

Fortune Teller: Huinë is the clan's Fortune Teller, whom some to believe to be legitimately skilled while others think they are full of it. Either way, their readings attract a number of tourists to the clan.

Autumn Festival Planner: Yes, its an incredibly niche role that means she spends most of the year twidling her thumbs, but Fimbrethil will never give it up. She spends the rest of the year tending to the forest or travelling Sorneith for inspiration and she might be trying to chase Autumn around the globe.

Singer: Loctë is the clan's singer, who suffers from intense stage fright before his performances. He is working to overcome this with the help of his forest friends.

Cemetery Groundskeeper: Vaya takes care of the cemetery grounds, though is considered a ghost by the few that have ever caught a glimpse of her.

Merchant: Artanis sells the clan's many wares at markets near and far.

Swordsmith: Malvegil makes the clan's weapons, specialising in swords.

Amourer:: The cheery Canya makes armour for the clan's Guards.

CLAN LORE

This is the lore that applies to my clan. To be honest I don't know if it is contradicted by the general FR lore, but in my own clan this lore takes precedence. None of it is meant to contradict anyone else's lore or belittle real-world issues. I'd just rather think sexism, homophobia and such isn't an issue in this fictional world and this lore reinstates that.

arcanemidsmall.png

General

Gender:
  • there aren't any rigid gender roles (e.g.; profession, parenting, conduct)
  • not patriarchal - if Actaea's eldest was female, they would still be the heir
  • there aren't any expectations that female dragons should or will have hatchlings
  • for dragons who's gender or pronouns don't match their physical tributes card, other dragons adopt their preferred pronouns without question - different pronouns aren't considered strange or inconveniencing, and contains no stigma what an ideal world

Sexuality:
  • my clan doesn't use labels
  • dragons generally don't feel the need to share their orientation with anyone other than their partners, and even then there isn't any great expectation to elaborate
  • pan (not that they use that label) is the neutral but everyone is valid especially asexuals
  • dragons that are in breeding pairs aren't assumed to be het

Mates:
  • 'mates' doesn't necessarily mean dragons that have offspring together
monogamous, polyamorous, platonic and ace relationships (amongst others) are all equally valid
relationships between any gender/s is all good
  • courting differs between couples, but there is usually a courting period in which either one or both are actively courting the other; there's no expectations that the male/'more dominant' one will initiate courting
  • what being mates means is different to different dragons, there is no 'standard'
    different breeds can be mates
  • Fae x Imp pairs are valid

Nesting:
  • most pairs that breed are in established pairs - these may be romantic, platonic, purely reproductive or motivated by any other number of reasons
  • there are specific pair grounds/breeding grounds, where pairs usually have their own private nook
  • though there isn't any shame tied to it, its still very private
  • pairs generally nest their eggs together, taking turns in who leaves the nest to bring back food or to just stretch their wings - in some pairs just one will incubate the eggs though

Parenthood:
  • parenting style is highly dependant on the pair in question
  • some are very involved with their hatchlings, others hardly say goodbye when they leave for new lairs or to assist the Arcanist
  • sometimes the parents name the hatchlings and sometimes the hatchlings are encouraged to find names for themselves
  • some parents really grieve the children that leave the lair while others are proud or even nonchalant

- schooling

- age

Clothing:
  • some dragons like to wear clothes, others don't
  • it can reflect class or position, but 'naked' dragons aren't considered jobless and impoverished
  • and 'nakeness' isn't really a thing

Familiars:
  • generally, if the familiar is in the dragons bio, they are significant, if they aren't mentioned, they're there for chests or aesthetics
  • the relationships between dragons and familiars is heavily dependant on the pair in question
  • some dragons don't care about familiars at all (and these dragons might have a fam anyway because gilded chests)
  • some dragons consider their awakened familiars best friends while others are more business like, while some who awakened familiars have no lore connection at all

Naidis, do you want to spend more time with your mate? How do you distract yourself when you are bored?
Hmm, Actaea is quite a busy dragon, so I don't mind not spending a lot of time with him. Besides, I like my space! So when we do spend time together, it is nice to just sit quietly, and talk about little things, or nothing at all.
I do spend a lot of time hunting, but it can get a little boring sometimes. When it does, I like to drop by the hatchling nursery or the training grounds and try to learn something new about what they do! I still find it amazing that some dragons would rather spend their time constantly surrounded by others, rather than off on their own in the beautiful forest.

Hello Naidis! First of all, you look very pretty!
Why did you decide to become a hunter? Or maybe someone made the choice for you? How do you feel about your job?
Naidis looks slightly taken aback, and then gives you a small smile. "Why, thank you. That is kind of you to say." She runs a claw along the gold disks lining the silks on her wings. They clink together gently. "I certainly did not choose my outfit, I don't have much sense of 'style', as I believe they say. I remove it when I go hunting, or else I would scare off every deer within ten kilometres..." She clears her throat. "But that is not what you asked, sorry. No one allocated me the role of hunter, I fiercely seized it myself, and no one was going to say no," she says with a chuckle. "I very much enjoy my work, well, I don't exactly see it as work. I tend to be quite solitary, so I find it very relaxing to spend time alone in the forest. And I feel I know it well, I respect the balance needed, and make sure never to take too much. Just enough to feed my clan."
ProudMomof1 wrote:
For a hunter, she is very well dressed. It sort of reminds me of Twilight, where a vampire can hunt for food and still remain clean. She gives off that vibe of being able to fight/hunt smartly, where in a few moves she can take something down in an elegant way. The way she is practically fire to Actaea's water makes sense. Her love for her son is admirable.

i usually try not to pick too early, but naidis looks utterly divine. i couldnt help but be drawn to her! her deep blacks and reds paired with delicate lines of gold give her a refined, gothic look, and then the plague eyes on top of that? is anyone even allowed to be this pretty?? wow.
