The Sword
Archivist with Crestflame Academy Named for the Elvish word for Sword, Kerym has spent his years establishing himself as a stalwart defender and steadying presence among his clan and ironically, not a very good swordsman. He is a reliable presence, content to tend to their figurative nest as other Avariels fly off in search of new horizons. One of the many archivists in Waterdeep's most prestigious school of magic, he's always believed that enough excitement can be found in the pages of a good scroll to satisfy any heart. He maintains the records of Crestflame Academy, and it was only a matter of time before someone noticed the uptake in unusual incidences that have been plaguing the academy's research teams. Bursts of energy when little more than a dash was required, flames burning cold, levitation spells that enhance gravity. These concerns are minor and could be explained by improper spellwork, but enough points a pattern make. Before he could report his findings, they turned into a proper problem. A senior student attempted to heat a beaker and sent fifteen of their classmates flying through the air. The blast took off quite most of their face, their skull.. but not their life. And more often than not, necromancy wasn't just a happy accident. There is a glitch in the system, and someone needs to find it. |
