When Lucy first joined the Caravan it was a very different place. It had never been touched by war and they were just a collection of dragons and traders living together on the Plateau. Then when Damien came to attack the clan Lucy was one of those who stood up to repel the invaders from the Icefields. She fought valiantly in the War of Legacies with other members of the clan who would go on to become the Windborne.

The Caravan retreated to the Wastes and decisions had to be made. To help their side against the Ice Lich the Caravan would have to militarize, and they needed structure and a hierarchy so they did not just run every which way. Lucy was elected by the other warriors of the Caravan to act as High General of the Caravan’s forces. With her as their leader they continued to fight against the forces of the Blood Tainted Damien, and eventually pushed him back. Once the War of Legacies was over the Caravan maintained a military force but it changed into the Windborne Guard, who were less army and more a police force. Lucy became Commander of the Guard after that and led the Windborne in the protection of the Caravan and the then unnamed city atop it.

This went on for many years before a flock of harpies attacked one of the outlying ships of the Caravan when they went too close to their territory. Lucy was in the party that answered their distress call and flew to help. There was a great battle and they greatly underestimated the power of ‘lowly beastclans’ and it ended in the death of half the guard party and left Lucy extremely injured and disfigured.

Returning to the Tale Lucy had to have two of her limbs amputated and an eye removed to keep infection and harpy poison from spreading to the rest of her body. The loss of her limbs was a great blow to Lucy and even when she was fitted with sturdy brass prosthetics, and even a new golem eye she never regained her confidence and spirit. She became a shadow of herself and became Commander in name alone.

As Lucy became withdrawn Kaley was rising through the ranks of the Windborne, showing herself to be a strong and capable leader. Desmond urged Lucy to interact with Kaley and after spending some time with the young wildclaw determined that Kaley would become the next Commander of the Guard. She took Kaley under her wing and taught her what she needed to know and then when she felt Kaley was ready Lucy announced her retirement and that Kaley would be her successor.

The torch passed Lucy was free to be herself and spend time doing other things like spending time with her mate and taking up gardening. Kaley still seeks her council often but Lucy has become happy in her retirement, and has come to accept herself, and her disabilities.
