Desmond joined the Caravan shortly before the clan went to war against the Ice Lich Damien. He was not originally a member of the military and instead was an entertainer. He loves making people smile and making them happy. But then war came to the Caravan and Desmond donned armor with many of the Caravan and went off to battle. He was a bit of an unsung hero during the War of Legacies and participated in many battles fought, seeing to the end of many of Damien’s horde.

It was during one of these battles that he got thrown together with Lucy, quite by accident really. She was leading a group of dragons that was getting hit hard on several fronts and Desmond just happened to be there. Him being there was what turned the tide of the battle, though not many dragons saw it. Lucy did though. After the battle Lucy was treated like the reason they’d won. She tried to shift attention to Desmond but he just told her not to bother. He wasn’t really interested in being a hero, or celebrated. He was just here to help his clan.

When the War of Legacies ended Lucy asked Desmond to sign up to be a guard. At first he refused, since that didn’t sound fun, or a way to make people happy. She did eventually told him into it though and for a brief time when she was starting out Desmond was her right claw dragon. He eventually faded into the background and became a low ranking member of the Windborne. He now serves as a trainer to new guards and commands a portion of guards who patrol some districts in Mu. Lucy has tried multiple times to get him the recognition and position he deserves but Desmond isn’t interested in titles or recognition. He’s just doing this for Lucy now, because it makes her happy to see Desmond still following their way even though she no longer can.

After Lucy was injured during the harpy attack he was there to care for her. He was her support though her entire recovery and anyone in the know knows that without Desmond Lucy would have never bounced back to what she is now. His bright personality was what kept her going. Its also a bit of a well kept secret that after Lucy came back and was recovering with her prosthetics that Desmond went out to where the harpy attack took place and came back covered in the strange blue markings that cover his feathers. No one really knows what he did but scouting parties sent out to check out the area reported back that the harpy roost had been completely destroyed. No one is quite sure what Desmond did, or if he even did anything, and he certainly isn’t telling.

Sometimes other dragons don’t know how Desmond is either a guard or a real Shadow dragon. Unlike his kin Desmond is very relax and has a fairly cheerful and genuine disposition and doesn’t even like playing tricks on others. He doesn’t really like fighting but the war turned him into a very dangerous dragon. Violence is always the last option for Desmond but if you push him enough he will seriously kick your *** into the next Age. He also rarely gets angry but when he does his mouth and wings will start to drip black shadows.
