Biography

Wing Bones Wing Bones Wing Bones Wing Bones Wing Bones Wing Bones

Skalgrim is head of the Hound legion, leading the operations of hunting down stragglers. The role has granted him status as general. Simple and honor bound, and a stickler to the rules, Skalgrim can be tough to work with, but relied upon to get the task done.
Quote:

The wind howled, the imperial dragon almost at the edge of the Wandering Contagion. It had been a long, long night. The chasers had torn his wings apart, severed something in his legs too, he was sure. And that was before even leaving the Rotrock Rim...

The Abiding Boneyard on the other hand, had by far been the worst part. Weeks of wandering the desert and hiding, hiding some more... had he not done this pilgrimage once before, he knew he would have never made it. But now, he would probably reach certain refuge. There were thousands of clans to seek, one of them would want him... And probably having to excuse his damaged leg. It was a true blessing of the Plaguebringer by now.

Though as he laid down in a hidden creek, away from sight, he swore he could hear a howling sound. It was in his head, it was the wind...
His eyes peeled open. In the dark, he could see the flash of eyes. The smell was uncertain, the wind blasting past him. Another howl... wolves. He could handle wolves. The small creatures were starting to circle him, but it would not be the end. If anything, he might make it with dinner too.

The imperial dragon roared his challenge, crawling out of the creek and spreading his decaying wings. He could barely even see where the wolves were, but that was enough to land the hits he needed. At first it looked like victory, a singular swipe knocking the animal off its feet. Another hit with his tail, this should discourage them by now. But when he looked back, there were something else that he had hit. Somewhat larger, and the flash of sharp steel...

Before he could guess what danger he was in, another hit grazed his throat. And another, latching onto his shoulder hard. Like from the woodwork, he was surrounded by a dozen wolves. Some were tundra dragons actually, now that one was launching at his chest. A couple vultures landed in the nearby trees, only watching as the dragons took out more knives.

The imperial thought to himself. It had only been a couple seconds. And he was an idiot, still standing here, not even thinking to shake off the beasts. But more he did not manage to do, as it now went back. The blade that had grazed him, hit quite deep actually. So sharp he had not noticed the wound before now.
As he fell over, perhaps it had been a good idea to stay in Bloodsurge´s clan. They had warned him something like this would happen, in this scenario. Perhaps he could try again in the next life.

...

Skalgrim walked over, looking at the vultures picking at the imperial through the howling wind. The size of this dragon would be a decent meal for them all, it was quite a lucky day. He unsheathed his Ravenskull Broadsword, decapitating the head for proof of their hunt. And for a week´s hunt, it would be quite decent. Of course they could have let him run farther, but they were needed back in the clan too. Next time they could maybe hunt for a month, and then push a hunt to a day or two...

He turned to his hounds, doing his guttural howl to end the hunt. The wolves howling eagerly along, but the Hounds were already at work to make due of their work. Heni let a vulture take flight back, as the pack was a bit slower. Skalgrim could be as horrific as he wanted to the prey, but for some reason, there was always someone that tried their hand at escape, again and again.

But for now, they could take a rest.

Tundra Hounds

The tundra dragons of the clan have a specific function, in how they remember smells of friend and foe. To control their clan, the most devout tundra dragons are put in charge of finding deserters that manage to get away from the ranks.

Patrols of tundra dragons, and sometimes skydancers, can be seen prowling populated areas in search of potential lost clanmates. The tundra noses pick up on the scent, and may sometimes hound down their target. If the risk is too high, a skydancer may stalk the prey until sufficient opportunity or backup arrives.

A tundra taking the role as hound may see themselves promoted quickly, as multiple successful missions and rewards gives them an edge in showing their devotion. The trust allows them to search for more resources as well, and experiences dragons of the clan might normally miss.

Tundra Diet

With so many dragons secluded in a big, although cramped territory, there is dire need of food and water. Especially those of non plague origin, as the bare mold is oftentimes not enough. Thus they have developed a taste for all biologic material. Tundra dragons are often found gnawing on bones and wood to get a semblance of nutrition.

Some plague tundra dragons have found ways to manipulate their biology, breaking down the organs of their prey for the nutrients they have eaten instead. Though outsiders might be shocked to see these tundra dragons devouring prey like vultures...
