Biography
Basque grew up how a hatchling would normally would, with the exceptions of her nest consisting of only herself and her father absent from her life. She constantly heard her mother belittle the father she never met, always heard her remark that he was a failure, and how it was a miracle they ever had her. She never saw herself as a mistake despite these remarks, but with every negative comment made about her father only made her more curious about who he was.
She went through the trials of Mother the same way her mother had, passed them the way she had, and had become a Necromancer. The ability to take and give disease was in her claws, but what she wanted to do with it she was unsure. She left her home clan, in hopes of finding a purpose for herself within the Scarred Wasteland, no direction in mind for her travels. Find a Necroservus for herself, perhaps?
Weeks into her travels was when she found of many ghouls she had encountered, yet this one was like no other she had found. He seemed strong, confident about his failure, showing no hesitation to approach despite his uncontrollable disease. Most would've skittered away at this point, but the confidence he radiated was something she had yet to see in a Ghoul. He introduced himself as thorns, and with offers to attempt to neutralize him came with polite no's, and as this back and fourth continued, he eventually spoke those fateful words.
"Fear would kill me if her risky plaything was found neutralized, young Necro."
Fear.
Her moms name was Fear. She remembered her being such a sucker for the thrill of risk taking, bringing in ghouls to try and neutralize them or perform other experiments on them. She loved the ghouls, the way they acted and how dangerous they were.
Questions was all she had. "Was this 'Fear' character a Guardian?" "Did she act like this or that?' He kept answering, the pride still in his voice, until it finally came out that he had managed to get her to lay a single egg before he was outcast from his clan, the promise of her coming back to him clinging to him like the disease he carried.
This Ghoul was her father. Her mother belittled him because she didn't want her to try and find him, but here he was. The disease he failed to control ran through his skin and wings. According to him, they had been sweethearts before they chose to pursue the trials, his failure and her success putting a strain on their relationship. They remained close, but with great difficulty due to his disease becoming more contagious by the day. He didnt want his daughter to neutralize his disease because he knew how much her mother loved the thrill of coming to him, entranced by his disease.
She knew she had to keep pushing, and with many sobs and hugs, she bid her father farewell, now knowing what she wanted to do with her wanderings and with questions unanswerable by her father lingering in her mind. How did her mother have such an intimate relationship with a Ghoul? How did her egg survive having a Ghoul be the one to father it? Why was her mother so concerned with keeping her relationship a secret?
She knew she couldnt ask her mother these questions directly, knowing the reputation she had to maintain would be shattered if her relationship had come out. Besides, these where interesting questions for her to investigate for herself, what with all the knowlege she gleaned from Thorn. Her studies became increasingly ghoul centralized, her fascination with them growing as her inquiries grew deeper.
The meeting of her faithful 'servus, Pox, and her seasoned travels have brought her to where she is today, fully committing herself to the study of Ghouls and their variants, the sect of necromancers fascinating her. She one day hopes her studies will contribute to the Necromancers and Necroservi of Sorneith and that her legacy will live on, even if her blood may be seen as tainted, if it where to ever come out who her father was.
