"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." This is often believed to imply that a lemon is a bad thing to be handed - but the overall message is of the lemon's power to take a negative start and with only a little effort, become something pleasant and positive - a power lemons have been believed to possess throughout many cultures in history.

In fact, some believed that those who had a lemon tree simply growing near their home could never be harmed by negative energies. Lemons themselves were included in a variety of detoxifying and healing rituals and remedies. The bright yellow colour itself is a strong symbol of joy and optimism. To this day, the scent is considered a clean one included in many cleaning products. As with most of nature, they tend to have a renewing presence.
