Remy

A giant horrible gooserat. Who is beloved.

Keeps stealing the lair windsocks, and Windsinger's standards, and flight path flags, and clan emblems, and really anything flappy with a string to hang onto. Can't even explain why he does it, just that they're there and he wants to and if no one's standing right there in the moment to say no then why shouldn't he.

One of the bazaar merchants got an idea though, they can work with this—some of the Cloudsong stalls commissioned their own shop banners from Amateria they fly outside on nice thick comfy-to-hold untie-with-one-tug ropes so whenever Remy takes one and runs off with it it's free advertising.

And if he brings it back when he's ready to dump it for a shinier one he'll get something in exchange, a free bowl of ramen from the noodle stall or bath from the bathhouse or just ten solid minutes of headpats from Shea who knows how to really dig in and scratch.

(Who says abbers don't know commerce, Remy is getting this exchange of goods for services thing down so good.)

Remy is pretty. Sometimes he asks people Why am I pretty? to collect the answers:

He has nice eyes.
He's curly-clawed.
Looks... ice-creamy.
Not mold-colored.
His fur is very thick. (...Feathers? Furfeathers? Mane.)
He wears clouds on.
His horns are jinky.
Are those rat tails?
He likes coffee. (Only the right head is allowed caffeine. The left gets hiccups.)
He's a sweetie muffin. (So he tastes very good.) (He's not allowed to eat himself.)

He has lots of prettinesses which is very good for this dragontangle because they can use a lot more, there's not enough heads to go around all the bodies here.

(He hasn't managed to grow more. Nobody else has yet either, so at least he's not the only fault.)

Had already named himself Re'em when Calcifer brought him home. No, not one head is Re other is Em, it's very confusing that that's confusing. It's also confusing that turning half his name around to Re'me solves the confusion but that's fine, he doesn't mind. (He turns one head backwards whenever he says or hears Remy.)

Has learned hoards. He hoards pillows. Has many many many many pillows, look at his many pillows he has such a good hoard.

(A small side market is springing up of dragons commissioning Amateria to make pillows for them to trade to Remy in exchange for returning banners... or for Remy to steal instead of banners; he seems to have a conviction that hoard objects cannot serve as a direct form of currency.)

His hoard of many pillows keeps growing and yet the space to contain his hoard does not. But he solved that problem all by himself—he sneaks his pillows into other dragons' hoards and if they notice he says it's a Gift of Friendship. That means they keep and protect his pillows for him and still have to let him visit. Friendship is such a good idea for hoards.

Prufrock gave Re'em a Self-Portrait in Paper after Remy dropped off another pillow for the shrine. Remy named it Em're, asked what paper eats and what hurts it, and is taking diligent care of the tiny abber so that Emry will grow up big and strong and more-headed.

gremlin- was subjected to vicious attempt at suffocation with a giant pillow. he bit and tore it open and crawled inside as escape and revenge... and then stayed there. it's super comfy. (and a good hiding place)
lab- makes no sense that this works, but even when he puts the cushion down in a spot that's conveniently out of the way, mouse will immediately go and sit on it. this may be the most valuable tool in his entire lab.
legion- is not actually sold on re'em's 'painting pillows is exactly the same as body art because they're the pillows' bodies' but whatever honestly, it's fun, he pays.
ichabod- THIS pillow is HIS pillow, not swamprat communal property, there's a reason they all have their own!
hinny- squeezing lavender inside the case did not help the pillow attract any bugs, but at least it makes her dreams smell nice (and counteracts gremlin some; she's added lavender to the rest of the swamprats' too)
johnny- used a pillow to stuff a crack *temporarily* to keep anything else from falling while she went to get stuff for a patch job. remy cried. johnny had to swear never to use a pillow so callously again to get him to stop and go away
x- so silver-tongued they actually persuaded re'em around to pillows *like* participating in pillow fights so it'd be mean not to let themx- pillow fort
edarra- it took honestly way more work than it should have to convince re'em of the obvious fact that a pillow left out for the firkin would fade very quickly in the sunlight... but she wound up with a pillow out of it
og- pass a traveler in the night and share camp, 'oh that's a pretty pillow would you swap it for this one.' packed on top at next stop 'oh i like that pillow, would you trade it for this one'... where is this going to end
folly- og left them a pillow. going unused, probably, but everyone ought to have one
(peat- definitely totally didn't lose a pillow in the swamp... it's a pillow, who cares?
frank- definitely didn't *lose* a pillow in the swamp, it *disappeared*. how and where did it go??)
ghibli- a harpy gave a really interesting lecture about how interchanges of color and pattern can tell a story just as much as words, so re'em gave ghibli a Story of Friendship
flagsurge- there's a pillow language too?!
