"Disgusting peons, making demands as if
their opinions actually mean something! I
will not negotiate with laborers who clearly
don't know their place. It's time someone
made an example of these greedy fools. No
worker is irreplaceable after all..."
The Ironclaw Forge had prospered under the direction of the Ironclaw family for centuries, each generation becoming more wealthy and powerful than the last as their influence spread into every corner of the town of Cinderslag. What had started out as a small, grimy blacksmith's shoppe was now used as an office, while the forge itself was made up of several large chambers carved out of rock in a mine that the family had purchased two hundred years ago. With half the workforce mining for ore and the other smelting it, there was an endless stream of activity coming and going, and plenty of treasure being made, filling the already bulging purses of the Ironclaw family and their business partners.

As their control grew, Cinderslag felt the tightening grasp of the Ironclaws as they bought out most of the district competition, and bought their way into local politics. The domineering ridgebacks brooked no argument with any of the policies that they 'suggested', and the other council members - threatened or bribed - allowed the family to impose their will upon Cinderslag unchallenged, reducing the townsfolk to peasants whose only purpose was to toil in the mine and forge for minimum wage and maximum profit. With no power to change the way things were run, and with the cost of living too high to move away, life in the soot-blackened town was tough and joyless, unless you were an Ironclaw.

But then something happened. With the great elemental shift came a geological anomaly - the creation of a new island volcano, rich in ore and bubbling with potential. Naturally the Ironclaws tried to lay claim to it, but before their plans could get underway there was an uprising among the blacksmiths of the region, who saw the new volcano as a sign for change and new beginnings. The strike - known as the Magmablood Rebuke - spread to many forges, with workers picketing bosses for better wages and working hours, sick of being exploited. This mutiny eventually came to the Ironclaw Forge, and the Cinderslag residents took up the cause with gusto, turning on the Ironclaws with the hatred of decades of oppression.

At this time Istasha was the head of the family. A cold and calculating ridgeback who enjoyed the finer things in life, she had no thought or care for the common dragon other than what she could squeeze out of them. Istasha had a shrewd head for business that her rich clothes and jewellery concealed, and her tongue was as sharp as her spiked tail. When her investors complained about the ongoing strikes and threatened to pull out unless something was done, Istasha called a meeting in the cavernous lobby of the mine, inviting all the workers, forgemasters and administrators to parlay. When the crowd had gathered Istasha climbed onto a makeshift stage, and the crowd booed, waving placards and banners as she prepared to speak.

"Well well, aren't there a lot of unhappy faces out there? Such a pity that our dear town has been caught up in all of this...unpleasantness. I must say, I thought better of the folks of Cinderslag, it pains me to hear you speak about my family so disrespectfully. After all, they were the dragons who turned a muddy little village into one of the region's main hubs for blacksmiths and miners. We built your schools, libraries, apothecaries and temples. We gave you jobs in our great forge so that you could live and work close to your dens. And now, because a group of greedy, selfish rebels have taken the new volcano for themselves, you're all prepared to throw away everything that we've worked so hard together for. It's so sad. I had always assumed that you were loyal like myself, and were committed to making this town strong in the name of the Flamecaller! But it seems you would rather stamp your paws and make demands than support your own flight. What a shame.

I have called you all here this morning to say that I have listened to your complaints and taken everything on board, and I've decided to release you from the shackles of paid full-time employment. You are all dismissed. Fired. Every last one of you. You are no longer employees of the Ironclaw Forge and are now free to seek your fortunes elsewhere, as apparently there are so many opportunities just waiting around the corner for you. Of course, as you have been let go due to the gross negligence of leaving your posts to protest, none of you will receive any severance pay. I'm afraid it's all in your contract. But never mind - you'll all soon be in wonderful new jobs, with treasure rolling in and plenty of leisure time - that is if you believe the lies of the Magmablood Rebuke!

The truth is, my friends, that it takes many months to set up a new forge, and years to see steady business growth. And even if, against all odds, those mutineers do get something going, you'll still have to move away to work in the volcano. Moving away is expensive, and requires the new area to have homes and amenities, none of which the island has yet. Can you afford to work for nothing while those necessities are built? I'm truly shocked that you have all allowed yourselves to be deceived by those wicked rebels who bring shame upon the Flamecaller - She who praises the hard work of those who tame metal in her fire!

But alas, there is nothing more I can do. Go if you will, and good luck, I think you'll need it. Let it be known though, that I will be in my office in town over the next week, interviewing the many candidates from other regions who have contacted me hoping for a place in the Ironclaw Forge. Now I am a fair dragon, and the contracts that I will be offering these newcomers will also be available, with certain revisions, to any loyal ex-employees who are brave enough to admit their mistake at supporting the criminals who started this mess. Don't risk your welfare and the welfare of your loved ones for rebels who don't know or care about you. My door will be open for one week only. Do the right thing, for yourself, for your family, and for your Flight. Goodbye."

Fun fact: I hatched 100+ eggs during NotN and only ONE was half decent. I randomly bought and hatched this single egg for the date and got a primal with matchy colours. RNG.. are you actually okay?

She is named after a Cthulhu mythos deity
