Biography:
Darkstar's biggest fear was of his children growing up to be like him. He knew, from past experiences, that his Nocturne sons and daughters picking up on the same thieving habits that plagued him was an inevitability, thanks to the habitual mimicry that ran so deep in their species. But this time, with this nest... he could tell that these children were destined to be different. Three wonderful little Tundra babies, bothered not by the uncontrollable urge to mimic whatever their parents did. They had some hope to live normal lives, to not fall from grace and become rogue criminals like Darkstar himself, and like so many of his other offspring before them.

Eluped had already moved on. His mate, their absent mother, had insisted on returning to her travels before the babies could hatch -- before they could grow to love a mother who would only leave them. And with a heavy heart, Darkstar chose to remove himself from the hatchling's lives, too... not completely, as he just couldn't bear the thought of it, even if it would be the best thing for them. However, the Nocturne did entrust the dragons in charge of his clan's Nesting Grounds, Shesh and Love, with much of his three babies' teaching and care.

As soon as Dess was an adolescent, old enough to be trusted to take care of herself in any capacity, she was on the road travelling. Step one for her was getting as far away from her birth lair as possible... she couldn't help but despise that place. Her caretakers had been wonderful to her, yes, but by no means were they able to replace the love of her actual parents. Having never known her travelling mother, and having gotten the cold shoulder from her father, no matter how desperately Dess tried to bond with him... it all took a great emotional toll on the little Tundra. At this point, she had no use for her father, nor her caretakers -- not even her foolish sister, who seemed perfectly happy under the care of Shesh and Love, and would never truly understand how she felt.

Dess left in the night as soon as she felt it was time, without a goodbye to anyone -- nor any plans on where she would actually go from here. All that mattered was that the Tundra's old life was over. It was all behind her now. Maybe her real story could finally begin.
