Biography
Lildian saw the world in black in white. Things were quite simple to her, something was either good or bad, helpful or harmful, entertaining or boring, and she would make her choices accordingly.
Perhaps that's why leaving home was not a difficult choice. There, she was in danger, she was always being watched closely by an aunt or uncle or, even more terrifying, her grandfather. She finally demanded answers about her grandmother from her father, and soon, she began looking for a more suitable place to survive.
It was a long flight north to the Scarred Wastelands. Many of Guinevere's court resided within the walls of Opovder, including one of Lildian's half-sisters, a fact that she placed in the 'useful' category. Upon meeting them, she decided that they had all gone soft after too much time away from their royal duties, excluding Kiudein, or they were just not used to having much responsibility. That was more difficult to categorize, but eventually she decided that it was simply 'irritating'.
She spent most of her time away from her other relatives, all except for Libri. It wasn't that she particularly liked the Pearlcatcher, it was just that she had access to nearly all the books in the city, and Lildian shared her father's love of them.
Libri was quite full of herself, but Lildian quickly found a friend in her. They would speak to each other about their favorite books, and Libri would quietly listen to the secrets of Konungur's rule.
"And I thought Guinevere was bad..." she'd always say. Then she'd tell stories of the cutthroat Court of Thorns, of Lildian's cunning half-siblings and their children. Soon, these sessions of story-telling became the highlight of their days.
