"Work too hard? No, no, I simply can't sit still- you see, as patriarch I have a lot of responsibilities to see after. There's just so much to do and I must make sure everything is going well and that we have enough food and everyone is happy and-"

Nickname: Nymph

Mate: Magma, one of the few people who can listen to him talk for an extended period of time without going insane. Her calm is good for him, as she offers a levelheaded perspective.

Personality Summary: Anxious, worrying, always darting from place to place, perfectionist, talks and moves very fast. Quite generous and caring, happy to accept people into the clan.

Clan Role: Founder and Patriarch of the clan. Nymph was created to start this clan, and so far none have seen reason to replace him. Despite his anxious behavior, the clan has been running quite smoothly, with relatively little issue, in part thanks to his own ability to keep things in line as well as Magma's ability to keep him in line so he doesn't collapse from exhaustion.

Notable Relationships:
  • Necrozma- Absolutely cannot stand him. His fast talking, his anxious flittering from place to place, all of it.
  • Quillan- Allows him to hang around his garden, which is a rare allowance. Some think it may just be because he's the patriarch.
  • Some clan members like him since he is pretty friendly and he interacts with clan members often, some are annoyed by him but tolerate him. His overall reputation is positive, as one would hope for a clan leader.

The Shadowbinder was wandering her domain one particular day, admiring the land she had designed for herself and checking the northeastern perimeter for any potential encroachments from other flights. Despite it being midday, the sky was dark as night, on account of the clouds she placed above the Tangled Woods.

A flicker of movement caught The Shadowbinder's eye; she crouched down, flattening herself against the grasses in order to assess the situation unseen. A small, green hummingbird was flitting about. It seemed confused and unsure of where it was, as it unsuccessfully attempted to drink from a glowing mushroom.

"My, my, where did such a vibrant creature come from...?" The Shadowbinder mused to herself. "Did you fly in from Everbloom...?"

She continued to watch the bird flutter from place to place with amusement. Back and forth, this way and that way, it darted in search of food. At last, it found a flower- a delicate white bloom, within a talon's reach of the Shadowbinder, whose pool of darkness only served to obscure her further. Oblivious to its company, the hummingbird positioned itself to take a drink. The Shadowbinder's claw darted forward and captured the bird in the blink of an eye. It struggled and its heart pounded in fear as it realized the danger it was in.

"Did you even mean to come here, or did you happen here on accident..?" She wondered quietly, deciding what to do with the creature. She thought for a moment, before breaking the silence again. "One could always use more clans..." she murmured. She lifted a talonful of the shadowy ooze that emanated from her form, dripping it over the bird's head in a sort of anointment. The bird was so small that it was completely covered, and disappeared from sight. By the time the ooze dripped off of the bird's form, it was gone, and a single shadow egg remained in her claws.

The Shadowbinder set the egg down next to the flower and continued her travels. A new clan would be born soon.

Like the creature he was made from, Woodnymph moves and talks quickly, often darting from place to place. He takes his job as clan leader very seriously, and acts somewhat like a worried dad to those in the clan, despite his monotone voice.

Nymph's fast talking and his tendency to worry means that he can come off as annoying to other dragons, however Magma does not mind. In fact, she enjoys listening to him talk, despite not being much of a talker herself. She is able to ease his mind when he gets anxious over running the clan.

Nymph is a very friendly dragon, willing to accept just about anyone into the clan. Though he is one of the leaders of the clan, he doesn't place himself above the others. The clan operates much like a large family or group of friends- there are very few rules, and the dragons act very independently for the most part. This atmosphere and the accepting nature of the leaders means the clan has a wide variety of dragons from all walks of life.
This system hasn't been working quite as well as of late due to how many members are present. As a result, Nymph and Magma have been working on assigning roles to various dragons to keep things running smoothly.

Nymph lives in a home made out of one of the giant mushrooms in Wispwillow Grove, with Magma living in a burrow just outside of the mushroom, as it is too small for her to fit comfortably. Nymph is more often than not found inside her burrow, using the mushroom as more of a personal storage than anything.

Despite being an insectivore, Nymph will partake in a bit of plant-based foods, both on account of his mate's diet, and due to lingering memories of drinking from flowers from his past life. He only eats small amounts at once, as his stomach hurts if he consumes too much food outside of his diet type. He enjoys fruits, nectar, and other sweet plants. Thankfully, there are a few kinds of bugs that are sweet, such as the sugarbee, allowing him to indulge his sweet tooth without getting ill.

To-Do List
Forgotten Poet's Tools Overseeing the clan and fussing over all the details means Woodnymph makes the most sense as the one to hold my to-do list in his bio.
Anything relating to items will be found in my wishlist, since it's more of an item-oriented to-do list than anything.

Roles:

Ideas for roles and jobs for my dragons, to make coming up with bios easier.
  • Scout(s) to keep an eye out on the surrounding lands and their goings-on (Weald, maybe?)
  • Someone to take care of the familiars, could be split into multiple specialized jobs:
    1. Someone for the animals (could be split into even more specializations based on animal kingdom or diet or something)- Birds and bugs have been covered
    2. Someone for the plants
    3. Someone for the beastfolk
      1. If we have only one beastfolk caretaker, I think a nocturne would be a good pick since their mimicry might come in handy in allowing them to learn the languages of the beastfolk.
      2. If there are one for each, then we obviously need a water dragon (either element or species) so they can actually breathe underwater
    4. Someone for the inorganic creatures (could be split depending on if the familiar is mechanical or magical in nature)
  • Someone to keep the hoard organized
  • Negotiators/Peacekeeper, though for now Asul will do because of his charisma and practice in this field.
  • Artisans
  • Archeologist
  • Hatchling caretaker
  • Builders for dens
  • Someone in charge of den upkeep (and decoration, too)
  • Chef
  • Someone in charge of cataloguing the bestiary
  • Medic, other than Duskwood because magic healing takes a lot of energy and as such should only be used for quick, emergency healing. This healer would use more mundane but reliable methods, like wound dressing or medicine.
  • Some second-in-commands because Nymph seems like he's about to drop dead from overworking. I'm fine, I have everything under control.
A lot of ideas came from this page.
