Seizure TW: GIFs with color changing effects

They are from my literal first try with a Stock The Pond pair. They are an XXY. They inherited a gem gene. I am apparently the new RNG god? Neato. Good vibes for the coming year. After a quite terrible winter break, I ended up smiling and feeling actually optimistic for the new year because of this dang dragon. Things are going to be okay. We're both statistically unlikely icons. 6 0s after the decimal point? I'll take those odds.

Luckbender is quite frankly an anomaly of a dragon- not only were the circumstances of their colours and hatch astronomically rare, but they were also brought into Sornieth on the first day of a year, meaning many see them as a symbol of luck and good fortune.

Luckbender’s parents, Blondie and Obsession, were part of a breeding program used mainly for fodder for the deities. The main idea was to choose two dragons of one solid colour each, of which could produce pretty much any other colour- flaxen and obsidian, in this case- and seeing if any special dragons come from it. Well, Luckbender certainly proved it is possible. On their parents’ first clutch, no less.

The guardian’s role lies heavily in their lucky circumstances, as they work in the business of analyzing statistics and publishing them in highly regarded scientific studies. This often leads them to working with esteemed scientists, such as a geneticist studying the rate of mutations in single celled organisms when exposed to certain environments. It’s safe to say they’ve picked up quite a bit of knowledge over their work in the field of statistics.

When not off with some scientist working on gene statistics, Luckbender cultivates a small cockroach farm with the aim to discover, or rather create, entirely new types of roach. Such as a wingless variety they managed to breed after years of hard work and tonnes of various food scraps needed to feed their test subjects. One day they may move on to other animals, such as snakes or rats, though for now the cockroaches provide them with enough joy and genetic discovery they could ever need.

As if Luckbender didn’t already have enough on their plate, dragons in their village tend to veiw them as a symbol of luck and good fortune, due to their uniquely rare colours and hatch date being on the first day of the first month of a year. Many even send them slips of paper containing that dragons’ new year resolution and/or wishes, hoping that Luckbender will make their wish come true or help them stick to their goals for the new year. Curiously enough, the guardian hasn’t really had any of their own resolutions for any new years. They’re generally content with where their life is at at any given time.

Overall, Luckbender tends to be a very busy yet content guardian. Working with world class scientists on genetical statistics papers, running a cockroach hatchery specializing on breeds of which the majority have only been bred by Luckbender, and functioning as a semi-deity in their village. Though they simply continue to go with the flow, picking up and dropping hobbies as they come and go, living life like a permanent resident of a lazy river.
