Taiga was born with an innate understanding of nature. He wouldn't say that plants spoke to him, but he could understand them. He understood his sister Talia like no one else too - knew what she was feeling, sometimes almost what she was thinking. Taiga visits the oldest parts of the Viridian Labyrinth often, believing there is much to learn from the ancient trees... if only he could fully understand. Prelude: Taiga gets nervous listening to the safety briefing. He was so focused on the opportunity of seeing a rare and ancient flower, he didn't consider the dangers. Seeing a small, enthusiastic gaoler puts him at ease. Round 1: Taiga tries to get ahead of the crowd by squeezing through a gap in the rock. The dry rock under his paws gives way causing him to tumble into a shallow hole. Round 2: Taiga is assisted by Raijin, and tries to not get distracted by the cave flora as they start properly on their journey. Round 3: Raijin asks Taiga to look at a map he's found and Hawthorn helps to decipher it. Tiamat goes on ahead and gets stuck in an opening of the rock when her armour gets caught. She can't breathe and Hawthorn is quick to get to teleportation ring on her to get her out of danger. Round 4: Maolin starts to act suspicious, indicating she knows more than she's willing to say. The group find an opening in a root of the Behemoth. Round 5: The group explore the waypoint and all the things that have been left behind. Taiga is overcome by being inside the Behemoth, finding it difficult to concentrate. He helps Raijin turn on the generator, and manages to find some supplies of use with Florasighth's help. Round 6: Taiga looks through the journal Raijin found. There is a worrying entry about something being quarantined down here, but with no elaboration as to what. A shadowy appendage grabs Maolin and tries to pull her into the darkness but Taiga and Hawthorn grab her. Raijin and Florasighth chase it away with light and fire. Maolin's hip has been dislocated, making her too injured to continue. Once Hawthorn has helped her teleport back to camp, Taiga congratulates everyone for their quick thinking in saving each other. The Behemoth might be trying to tell him something, pushing ideas to the front of his mind, enabling him to find hidden switches amongst the roots. Round 7: Hawthorn tells the group what they've been attacked by, and what's been quarantined down here, is The Shade. He is angry and irritable about being led into such a trap, and decides to go into deep meditation. Reluctant to leave him, Florasighth asks Taiga to carry him on his back. Loud noises ahead make Raijin signal them to stay back. He jumps to attack the oncoming foe, only to find the other team of dragons. A Pearlcatcher demands what they know and Taiga shares what he can, not wanting anyone else to get hurt or caught by surprise. While he's talking, a black hand pulls off his cloak trying to snatch Hawthorn. The Fae comes out of his meditative state with a screech, standing his ground to attack The Shade as he commands the others to flee. There's something not right about the Coatl who's joined them. Taiga tries to question him, the bad sensation he's getting making his fur stand on end. The Coatl doesn't answer and Taiga tries to scramble away. Round 8: Taiga's instincts were right. The Coatl doesn't respond to anyone's questions and Raijin leaps into action when he threatens to pull the lights down. The Imperial rams into the possessed Coatl, and sure enough, the nasty black goop of Shade oozes from his mouth at the impact. The Imperial is able to pin it with his greater size and weight, telling the rest of them to run. It's all too familiar, all too soon after losing Hawthorn, but Taiga isn't a fighter and he doesn't have a choice. He begs Raijin to follow them as they continue deeper into the cave. Far enough to be in relative safety, Taiga listens to the call of the Behemoth and lets her channel his power to better protect his friends. Round 9: Taiga, Raijin, Florasighth and Gild walk into a dead zone. Nothing grows here and all of them are starting to feel their exhaustion. Taiga suggests they stop before anyone dives into the unnerving drop ahead. His companions seem grateful for the suggestion and Taiga takes the opportunity to make sure everyone has their rings on securely. Taiga is suddenly back in the bright light of the medical tent. He's certain he didn't activate his ring. Its noisy here and he's confused and afraid for his friends who haven't appeared. He lashes out at the medical staff, hides his face, and cries. Thankfully his sister is quick to find and reassure him, and they wait for the return of Raijin and Florasighth together. |
