RELATIONSHIPS

Sycamore grew up on the stories of his father's adventures and travels. Oh, the places his father had seen! Sycamore would ask again and again for his favourite stories. The ones about wandering lost through the shrieking wilds always had him wide-eyed and breathless, no matter if he knew them all by heart. But perhaps Sycamore's favourite story of them all was the one his father told of travelling to Light and meeting and falling in love with his mother. It was a story Sycamore never tired of and always made him feel safe and happy. Sycamore longed to visit his mother's home and see all the places in his father's stories. And so it was that not long after Sycamore reached his adulthood he set off for his own adventures, heading towards his mother's old flight. It soon became apparent that one of the things young Sycamore had inherited from his father was his appalling sense of direction. After days and days of traipsing through the towering jungle, he stumbled across the home of a young Goaler who was not best pleased to see him - a stranger! - stumbling through her vegetable patch. However, when Sycamore dropped to his knees begging for kindness, she rushed forward to help him. For two days, the beautiful young Goaler nursed Sycamore back to health. A steady diet of mashed vegetables (from the wrecked vegetable patch) soon had Sycamore coherent and back on his feet. He was finally able to learn the name of his beautiful angel and Lilyzek learned his. The first thing Sycamore did on regaining his wits and his health was dig Lilyzek a new garden. And in the following days Lilyzek would take Sycamore and show him her world, the beautiful towering mangroves, the tall seagrass flowing down to the water's edge and the calm beauty of everything around them. And the following days stretched into weeks, which in turn stretched into months, and Sycamore found he no longer longed for adventure and far away places. He had Lilyzek. |
