______ Born into the Hotaru Clan on the night of the Winter Solstice, Ash is a quiet dragon, unlike his sister. As a young dragon, he would accompany his mother to help her with the hives she tends, especially as her mobility began to be affected by her condition. While never interested in taking after her, he wanted to help her as much as he could. When he finally reached adulthood, though, Ash moved out on his own. Although he didn't initially know what he wanted to do, he tried many different hobbies during his search.

______ It was almost a year before Ash found what he wanted to do, Laurel making fun of him for the period of indecision. It was his best attempt to honor his mother while also branching off into his own tradition. Candle making was a soothing job, gathering the bees wax from his mother's hives and melting them down before forming the wicks and dipping the candles. Over time, he expanded his repertoire, going to Rhapsody before beginning to incorporate scents into his candles. He loves to watch them burn down, especially as the days get longer and the light from the candles bounces and waves on the walls of his lair, seeming to hold off the cold outside. Every year on his birthday, Ash lights a large bonfire outside for all the dragons in the clan to enjoy, hoping to usher in the new year with warmth and good cheer.
