Youth
Gaerendyl lived with his parents while he was young but one day he was left alone in the woods. After waiting for his parents to return, he was eventually faced with the fact that they were not coming back. Having never been on his own before, Gaerendyl had to teach himself how to survive. He hadn't been alone for long when he ran across Cedrus. The other dragon was surprised to find him but offered to locate his parents for him. He disappeared for a couple hours before returning. Telling Gaerendyl that he was unable to locate his family, Cedrus brought Gaerendyl back with him to his clan. Upon their arrival, Gaerendyl was instantly introduced to Eire, Cedrus' wife. She helped Cedrus raise him, becoming a mother figure. Spending most of his time with the two of them journeying around, Gaerendyl learning more and more about the world around him. As he improved his skills, Gaerendyl gained the friendship of a Anomalous Nekomata. The familiar now often follows him around, giving him new information on his surroundings which allows him to make more informed decisions.

Coming of Age
When Gaerendyl finally came of age, he began spending more of his time with a group of friends. Each of them matters deeply to him. He also met Hiva, a pearlcatcher from another clan. He began spending more time around the clan to be by her side. Hiva was very receptive to his attentions but warned him that she had an unfortunate condition which would one day cause her death. Gaerendyl told her that this didn't matter to him; he was more afraid of losing her than he was of her eventual death. The two were hand-fasted in a small ceremony officiated by Eire and attended by Cedrus, as well as Hiva's father, mother, and brother. Gaerendyl embraced her family as his own despite his own experiences. It was after the wedding that Cedrus approached Gaerendyl, informing him that he had actually found the younger dragon's family all those years ago. They had had to leave him in the woods to keep him safe as he was the heir to a noble family. Due to the people after them, his parents had left him in the woods hoping that ignorance of his status would save him as well as that some traveler would happen upon him and take him in. Gaerendyl was upset by the news but understood the sacrifice his parents had made for him. Deciding to honor their sacrifice, he vowed to continue to live his life helping others. As such, he has made it a goal to help Hiva, no matter what the cost. Named after a D&D character who is a half-elven Ranger.
