Barsuk is a hotshot of a Graveyard Gaoler and, eager to prove himself, he joined the Emperor's Knell suborder shortly after he became old enough to set out on his own. Unfortunately, he was severely injured attempting to fight Luminax and happened to be thrown into Fiver's territory. The oddball nocturne patched him up just enough for her to be able to yell at him to get out the moment he awoke. He was still too hurt for travel, however. The two of them worked out an arrangement; Barsuk would be allowed to remain in her territory and construct a graveyard there so he could continue to practice his staunch Cremationist beliefs as a member of the Sentries so long as she could use his spikes as a perch and chat with him whenever she liked. He seems to be the only person in the world who's interested in her stories.
