Biography
She/her
Alya, one of the many, many children of an ancient demigod, always struggled to stand out in her father's court. Her magic was fairly weak, although she had a passion for flyer derby races and for technology.
Her family always tried to show her they cared for her, but she'd convinced herself that she needed to be better, somehow, that she didn't deserve them. She left the kingdom entirely, and on the way met Rivet, who soon became a close friend. Alya began experimenting with ways to 'improve' herself via cyborg augments to strengthen her flying ability. More speed, more control, more stamina...it ran the risk of becoming a single-minded obsession.
That was, until she met the cursed sea monster who was once a prince. She was flying just above the ocean when she stumbled across Silas poking his head above water to look at a meteor shower, and she was going so fast she crashed right into him. Her tech shorted out in the sea water and she passed out, so he got her to the shore and stayed nearby until she woke up, just to make sure she'd be okay. They got to talking and hearing about the family he missed so dearly made her decide to send some letters to reconnect with her parents, who were delighted to hear from her again. Alya realized that only she could be enough for herself as is. Although her love of technology never waned, she stopped constantly using herself as a guinea pig in search of some impossible 'perfection.'
She and Silas now meet on that same shore every new moon. She, unable to touch water without short-circuiting, and him, unable to leave it without suffocating.
