Biography

Epsilon
She/Her

Mage
Arcanologist

While it is true that there are many magic practicing dragons within the Snowfall Scavengers, it is also true that none of them study pure, arcane magic in an official, formalized manner. They all do study magic, certainly; but they usually only study select schools of interest, and primarily for their own improvement. If you're looking for a dragon who studies magic for academic purposes, then Epsilon is the dragon for you. It is her job - which she views as a privilege - to curate the clan's vast array of magical texts and artifacts. Many dragons, be they mages or otherwise, come to Epsilon when looking for information and tools to aid them in their magical endeavors.
Along with her curating duties, Epsilon is constantly pushing the boundaries on what is known and unknown within the realm of magic. She spends much of her time scouring for long lost spells, and even creating new ones. She also goes to great lengths to understand the nature of magic itself: what are its origins? Is magic truly naturally occurring, or does it have artificial origins? How blurry are the lines between each school of magic? How do beings generate mana? What exactly is mana?

Fortunately, one could say that this is a task she was born for; her body generates mana at a rate far greater than the average dragon. This allows her to cast spells for longer durations than most dragons, and it enables her to cast difficult spells on her own that would normally require a group of dragons to cast.

Welp. Ilbanth
He/Him

Polymorphed
Assistant
Until somewhat recently, Ilbanth was an average Spiral. Hatched in the Shadow Flight, playful in his youth, and magically inclined. He met Epsilon when they were both young adults, and the two would eventually become mates. They moved to the Southern Icefield not long after, and took up residence in Frostgrove Sanctuary. With Epsilon as the clan's official arcanologist, it only made sense to Ilbanth for him to work as her assistant. Despite their youth, they were both well versed in the ways of magic, and received many commendations from the clan.
That's not to say they were perfect, mind you. Accidents occurred here and there, as with many things. Most of the time, Epsilon and Ilbanth were able to recover from their mistakes. One in particular, though, has proven much more... troublesome than the rest. Some time ago, Epsilon discovered a set of polymorph spell scrolls. Like with many other spells before, Ilbanth volunteered as a test target. The first few went off without any difficulties, and the pair found themselves amused by his transformations into toridaes, skiras, and the like, all of which wore off within an hour or so.

The last one, however, was very different: rather than a creature, the spell turned him into an umbrella of all things, though he still maintained some of his draconic features. Also unlike the previous spells, this one didn't wear off. After the first couple hours, Epsilon and Ilbanth were uneasy. After a few more, they felt concerned. Hours turned into a day, and a day turned into a week. There was only one conclusion they could come to: it was a true polymoprh, and more a curse than a spell.

Since then, Epsilon has worked tirelessly to find a way to reverse it. Suffice to say, she's found little success so far. As for Ilbanth, well... he's not thrilled about his situation, but he could never bring himself to be mad at her. Overall, he's been remarkably patient, and he expects he'll need to keep that up for the foreseeable future.
