Growing up with ghosts lingering in every shadow you cast is more than enough to scar most dragons for life, but Mirage takes a different outlook on her life. She's always been fascinated in the things that lurk just out of sight, and her wild imagination has had years to weave countless stories to bring meaning to the unknown. She is the first of her siblings to publish any written works, and has become quite the accomplished author. She was always particularly close with her brother Hoth growing up, with many of her early works being derived from the musings they'd share as kids. There are few things she loves quite as much as aged books and warm summer days. Mirage’s relationship with time is… tricky. Sure, she looks about the same age as Hoth — they’d grown up together, friends ever since they were little hatchlings — and by all means, she should be. And then that weird experiment happened, and she was sent like Eleven-knows-how-many years ago back into the past, where she stayed with a clan who took her in for… give or take seven years, learning a lot from the kind dragons. After that, she was rudely sent back into the future again, into the time of five minutes after she disappeared. She knows some of the things she’s done still remains — the books written by Miraculi are still being passed around — and she’s since made her peace with it. Still, it did come as a bit of a shock when she saw her own book being used to teach a fellow clan member.

Mirage was born in the deepest part of the world to a clan whose members are as varied as the flights from which they hail. She was one of four eggs from Osprey and Ruse's second clutch, the other three being Phantom, Hoth, and Blair. For the early portion of her life, Mirage and her siblings were cared for primarily by their father in a neighboring clan. However the depths of the sea are a treacherous and savage place possessing of an unforgiving undertow and precious little light. While many wonders are said to exist in this unbroken twilight, it was certainly no place for a young dragon to thrive. As such, Mirage and her siblings were encouraged to following their calling out into the world, no matter where it might lead them. |
