Lauma hadn't been an unusual hatchling. She'd play with her nestmates - and she'd play with things that weren't there, like many other hatchlings did.
To her, they were the same: her siblings, all of them.
And indeed, she wasn't wrong.

One day, the number of her siblings halved. Worriedly she looked for them, went to all of their favorite places and more. When they were nowhere to be found she was sure they had to be near their mother, like they often were.
But they were not. And when Lauma tugged at her mother's leg and their eyes met, she felt that something had changed - for the better.
Looking around she realized, nobody else was searching for the two lost Mirrors.

Instead of words she only managed to whimper, her young self overwhelmed by those confusing events - half of her siblings gone and her mother, her mother so ... relieved?
Her family picked her up in her grief, but for a long time she couldn't stop thinking of that day - and even longer it took, she was almost an adult, until she understood what had happened back then.

The souls of her parents' first two children had been with her, unseen by any other clanmembers, until one day they moved on - moved on like their mother finally did.
What had felt like loss to Lauma then had been loss to Conch a long time ago, but in the end, Lauma too felt relieved.

Not long after she felt the call of the Search like most Guardians did and left her birthclan, deep down already knowing what she was looking for.
There certainly were more grieving parents and more restless souls out there.
