Born a guardian and named in honor of a heroic dragon of legend that bore colors like his, Spyro considered his name and its legacy a heavy burden.

The other guardians in his family are fearless protectors--of the clan and of their charges. Spyro isn't. When he felt the pull of the Search tugging him away from his home, his family, all he'd ever known, he refused to listen to it, wanting nothing more than to continue his simple life--welcoming visitors, gathering fruit and herbs, playing with the hatchlings--and never have to travel far or lay a claw on anyone.

And then his nestmate found their charge, a little tree so close to home, and he realized if he went on the Search, he'd have to go alone. So he found a way to silence the call--a scroll with an enchantment that would change his breed. As a tundra like his father, he's finally at peace.
