Biography
"How close it the ending? Well, nobody knows
The future's a mystery and anything goes
And love is confusing and life is hard
You fight to survive 'cause you've made it this far"
she/her | Protector, Clan Mom | in a relationship with Thorn
Blossom was born to a pair of devoted parents, two traveling mercenaries who still dedicated plenty of time to their daughter. She was doted on, trained to fight and praised for her progress.
Then her mother was killed by a vicious pack of mirrors, and the loss destroyed her father. He’d lost not only his mate, but his charge, and soon he lost his life in a last-ditch attempt at avenging her. Blossom was much too young for it to be time to begin her Search, but she had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do.
She spent much of her time in solitude. Occasionally, she’d meet a dragon who took pity on her, but she couldn’t stand to be in their presence for long, not when they could never understand what she’d lost. She was skilled at finding food and at defending herself from threats, so she didn’t need their help or their pity. She grew angrier, more defensive and withdrawn from the world around her with every encounter.
She eventually found herself in the Everbloom Gardens, where she had once heard was her birthplace. Soon after, a visible surge of nature magic in the distance caught her attention. A force she couldn’t explain, some stirring in her soul, led her to investigate.
The massive tangle of thorns baffled her, but instinct told her it wasn’t what she was meant to find. She kept investigating and found an unconscious tundra, looking battered and exhausted and half-starved. Though unimpressed, she stayed to keep an eye on him until he awoke, and when he wasn’t able to answer her questions about what had happened here or who he was, she looked after him. Something made her want to stay around him, melted all her anger and suspicion.
He was her charge, she understood at some point. He had lost his family too, she learned. He understood the grief she’d been suffering alone for all this time.
He told her with starry eyes and the first real smile she had seen from him that they should stick together and build a home and family together. That their home could be a home for anyone else who was like them. It was the sweetest thing she had ever heard, the first thing to make her smile in a long time, and she couldn’t possibly have agreed more.
They worked together to make it happen. Blossom didn’t know what the difference between a charge-bond and love was, it had never been explained to her, but her feelings for Thorn grew deeper and stronger with every moment she spent in his presence. She was in denial at first, that lying beside him at night felt so wonderful for any reason other than that he was so warm and soft and she had been alone for so long. But she eventually had to accept that she, fierce, strong Blossom, was in love.
She’s very proud of the home and family they’ve formed together, and dedicated to protecting it with a mother’s fierce devotion. While her hardships made her tough, beneath her intimidating exterior, she's still a very kind and loving dragon. No harm will ever come to anyone she loves again if she can help it.
