Mossmere's past is something of a mystery, and he is mum on the details. He always says his life began when he met Aeryn, who is his mate and Charge, completing his Search. Even though he sounds and appears rough, Mossmere is more of a gentle giant, preferring to weigh all the options before passing judgment on an issue.

Mossmere defers to Aeryn as leader of the clan, only voicing his opinion when he is directly asked. He prefers to watch Aeryn lead, enjoying the lack of responsibility he is afforded. Mossmere curbs Aeryn's temper with his own, more easy-going nature, a product, he says, of his exhaustion with the violent life he led before meeting his Charge.

The shift to Plague was a bit jarring to Mossmere, a long-time servant of the Windsinger, but in his heart, he knew his Charge had not shifted. He followed Aeryn to the Wasteland, doing his best to persuade as many clan members as possible to join them.
