Ruby
The Silent

Ruby has always been very quiet. It is not uncommon for dragons to have single eggs every now and then but it is uncommon for dragons to have no playmates. With these combined circumstances Ruby never had a good chance to learn many social skills. Being a pearlcatcher though she was naturally inclined to find juicy pieces of gossip among those she lived with. If she couldn't get her fix through word of mouth she would listen for it. She would usually settle in the corner of well transversed area with a book and pretend to read as she listened to what went on around her. Ruby would listen in when friends talked about eachother behind their back, learn little tells when dragons were lying, and pity dragons who cheated on their spouses. She holds her secrets very near and dear to her and never tells anyone what they don't need to know. She thinks her secrets are her value despite pearlcatcher's usual very large ego. That being said she does find herself particularly valuable based on all that she knows. Ruby actually approached Dain one day when she heard him talking about founder's children. She informed him of how to enter the tricky airship where she was born, that her parents are friendly, and that she could be a very useful dragon to have around. Dain was impressed with her enthusiasm and after straightening out some details Ruby moved in to the onyx hall in the lair. Once she was settled Ruby was assigned a partner. A red and brown female skydancer named Rye. Ruby was upset to say the least considering she thought she would be working alone, the way she liked it. In due time she did begin to understand why Rye and her were assigned as partners. Being a skydancer Rye's antenna gave her the ability to sense others emotions and she could tip off Ruby when a dragons emotions didn't quite add up. Of course dragons could always be especially good at acting or have taken herbs which nullify a skydancer's senses but most dragons can't deceive both of them. Ruby and Rye are often sent to particularly shady clans which ours must deal with. Although if time allows for it Dain prefers that these two meet with every official our clan deals with to avoid potential miss haps. Her and her mate Garnet met one night when they were guests at a foreign clan. She took a nap in the same room, no where near Garnet mind you, and when she awoke he had coiled himself around her. At the time she was too tired to deal with his shenanigans and the rest is history. |
