  A B O U T
The clan’s alchemist position is filled by the fae known only as “Bug.” The first impression they tend to give is that of a dragon who is straightforward, loud, and a bit overwhelming. Like most fae, they lack tonal variation in their voice, and seem to compensate by varying their speaking volume. Their chittering, monotone laugh can reach volumes that seem impossible for such small lungs.

Unlike other fae, their frills are curiously immobile, lying limply against their neck. They make up for the communication barrier by gesticulating with their forelimbs, wings, and tail, movements that become especially exaggerated when conversing with non-fae.

Bug can be easily exhausted by the extra effort needed to converse and usually prefers to be left to their own devices, passing long hours in their alchemy room or out in the Rotwoods gathering transmutation ingredients. They are kept company by a variety of arthropods, as well as one very spoiled cavy named Ladybird.

As for dragons, they do make exceptions for Morel, their old mentor, and Reginald, who is the only other dragon in the clan who is familiar with alchemy. They often stop by his kitchen in the evenings to clean out their cauldron or to swap notes.

They have also taken to calling him “Reggie,” amused by how much the nickname appears to vex him. The fact that he cannot similarly bastardize their name is a source of endless exasperation for the skydancer. The two maintain a spirited rivalry, with Bug having some ambitions to become a chef using their alchemical knowledge. However, they have not been able to convince any of their clanmates to try their more dubious "edible" concoctions.

  H I S T O R Y
Bug was Morel’s assistant for a number of years before becoming the alchemist for the clan. Though they learned most of their brewing skills from the older fae, they didn’t inherit her fascination with Plague magic. Instead, they maintain a close connection with the Fire element they were born under, using their innate temperature sensitivity to maintain the perfect brewing temperatures in their cauldron.

They watch over their hours-long transmutations with infinite patience, adding ingredients at precise intervals. It is a hard-learned skill, as alchemy isn’t a discipline with much room for error. During their apprenticeship, they jumped into a breed changing spell without the proper preparations against the warnings of their mentor, which resulted in an incorrectly executed transformation into a fae.

Despite some of the issues that have arisen as a result of the improper breed change, they genuinely enjoy being in the body of a fae. Though they still retain some spiral-like behaviors and the typical high energy of their birth breed, Bug has settled into their new form quite well.
