The only male hatchling from his parents' first clutch of eggs together, Sycora was lovingy doted on by both parents; though it quickly became apparent that his mother cared more for his sisters while his father cared more for him. As the hatchling grew, Apollinaris began to try to get Sycora interested in a career path. Over the weeks, he tried numerous paths: Jewelry Maker, Geologist, Painter, Kite Maker, Potter, and Gardener being just some of them. Unfortunately, nothing just seemed to resonate with the young Veilspun; though he did seem to enjoy learning about different rocks and minerals and the calmness that came with painting, but he wasn't a fan of the hours under the scorching sun that came with rock hunting and quality art supplies were expensive if one didn't know how to make them for themselves.

At the age of two months and still without a career path in mind, Sycora decided to be the first of the hatchlings to leave his birth clan in the lands of the Windsinger in order to truly find himself. It wasn't until he spent some time in the lands of the Earthshaker a month and a half later for the purpose of finding fossils for his budding collection did he finally find his career calling. Sycora was sharing his woes with a group of Snappers that he crossed paths with (and decided to stay and chat with upon invitation) when one of the individuals suggested that he become a museum curator. That way, he could still study geology and art without having those things be the only subject matter that he focuses on in his career. With a renewed sense of vigor, Sycora thanked the band of Snappers and headed to the lands of the Arcanist to do some further research.

The Veilspun stayed in the lands of the Arcanist for two months, during which he learned more about historical artifiacts and met his Starspawn Flyer familiar. After those two months, Sycora headed to the lands of the Lightweaver upon the recommendation of one of the more senior scholars due to the artifacts that were easy to come by in the Emporer's Wake thanks to to Luminax's movements. His journey to the lands of the Lightweaver took around two and a half months; during which a strange cumilation of magic from his time in the Arcanists' lands fused with some of his fossils- as well as his body- to create areas of hardened, opalized bone on the Veilspun's body.

Norwal was the first established town that Sycora came across. Liking the change of pace from the loosly-organized Dragon clans that he had seen and spent time with in his travels, he decided to make himself a home and set up the first museum in the bustling town with the help of Athame, Rust, and sometimes Suriya.
