Frida was... not entirely a planned child. In fact, she wasn't supposed to be a child at all. If all had gone as planned, the events on her birth night would have led to a very different kind of breakthrough. But, as Nerissa can often be heard saying, nothing ever really goes exactly as planned with Lamar in the lab, and this time was no exception.

"And... there", Nerissa whispered as she carefully squeezed a pipette. Two pairs of eyes were immovably fixed to the last drop of the last required ingredient as it fell into the concoction, months of work on a novel potion culminating in this single moment. The alchemists held their breaths. The lab was completely quiet save for one bubbling cauldron and two pounding hearts.

The liquid in the cauldron thickened immediately, and its pale olive color transformed to a bright green. Then it made a burbling sound. And another. The bubbles rising from it got larger, bursting with audible pops, the mixture swelling and swelling and threatening to boil over in a matter of seconds - and then it stopped. The bubbles shrunk, the swelling went down, the brew settled back to the bottom of the cauldron and finally turned a bright, golden yellow.

"That's exactly what it was supposed to do, right?" Lamar asked, still holding her breath.
"Yes", Nerissa replied. This was it.

It took all of Nerissa's willpower to contain her excitement. Lamar, unfortunately, had way more excitement and way less willpower. The overly energetic spiral darted up from her seat, squealing and cheering and looping herself around her partner, all but vibrating with glee. She grabbed Nerissa's face, her eyes glowing with enthusiasm. "WE DID IT! BY STARS, NER! WE --" she yelled, and kissed the stupefied bogsneak with passion. In that moment, the cauldron exploded.

When Nerissa came to, she found her girlfriend still wrapped around her, shaking her head. Pieces of the cauldron were scattered on the floor and everything within a six foot radius was covered in... purple goop? The bogsneak's eyes widened as she raised a claw to rub at her temple.

"I... think... you added an emotion to the brew", she muttered to Lamar who was looking around in confusion. "Oops", Lamar said. She was just about to untangle herself from around Nerissa when something goop-covered in a corner moved. Lamar very carefully slinked off her partner and slowly approached the twitching shape. She stopped a couple of feet in front of the thing and tilted her head.

"Huh. It kinda looks like you."

Frida is the result of a "failed" experiment. The clan alchemists attempted to create a happiness potion, but Lamar accidentally added a whole lot of uncontainable, supercharged love into the mix. Ever since that fateful night, the two have been studying, researching and taking care of this odd creature, birthed by the combination of Nerissa's wisdom and Lamar's passion and shaped by Lamar's emotions towards her partner.

Frida's personality is a mix of affection, curiosity and playfulness that she got from Lamar, with great intuition and a steady head from Nerissa. She's endlessly inquisitive about the world but rarely allowed outside the lab for concern over her potential fragility, but the alchemists do accompany her on short trips around the lair on quiet days.

Frida doesn't speak any language known to dragonkind. Instead she communicates by telepathically sending and receiving emotions. Her origins make her innately empathetic and, while still not able to create true love, she can amplify existing feelings of affection. Her mere presence can create a calming, loving atmosphere.
