Anger. So, so, so much of it fueled her. Her siblings have come and gone to new lairs, but she? She was left behind. Her screaming in frustration every night earned her the name of "Banshee," "Death Siren," and many more from those who lived in the lands bordering hers. This was how she lived for decades.
She thought it impossible to become anything other than what she was until a traveler came through her bramble and vine covered land. She watched him for several days and was amused at his determination to find her, now considered a ghost story or myth to be proven wrong.
Most who came through, she let them stumble about until they left to tell their story of lackluster adventure however they wanted to. She just wanted to be left alone.
This traveler however was different. He stayed for days, which became weeks, then a month before he left finally. She sighed and returned to her home. He had been a nice distraction, but has moved one like the others.
A bell rang distantly and she looked up with a puzzled expression. She opened the door and found him standing there with a smile on his face. "I am Glaucus and I've come to spend eternity with you."
