Lusitania isn't sure why, but someone's out to kill her. There's an assassin after her, stalking her, waiting for the right moment to strike - although it seems the mysterious hunter hasn't found the Lanternlight Clan just yet, or perhaps they simply haven't thought to look there.

She's not sure who wants her dead or why, but she's not about to risk her life to find out. She and her sister, Mauretania, have been running for years now, fleeing this faceless enemy. The two sisters have finally decided to join a clan and lay low instead of continuing their fearful journey throughout Sornieth, and they've picked one made up of misfits in order to blend in more completely. Lusitania refuses to tell anyone about her plight, and she's forbidden Mauretania from doing so as well, lest their hunter be hiding in plain sight.

Years of constantly looking over her shoulder have left Lusitania paranoid, afraid that the mysterious assassin she's been fleeing could find her at any time. She's jumpy and skittish, and her real demeanor - one that is both friendly and competitive, collected and playful - is largely hidden, buried beneath layers of anxiety and paranoia.
