Aquitania is known for being very vain. She's been winning beauty pageants from a young age and other dragons often compliment her appearance, so it's really no wonder she is the way she is, but despite her vanity she's actually a very kind dragon who cares deeply for her friends and does her best to support them through their darkest days. Her admiration for them is clear as day even despite her vanity, and when someone she cares about is no longer in her life for whatever reason she makes it her responsibility to pass on their stories to keep them from being forgotten. As a hatchling, her family made frequent trips to the Shifting Expanse from their home in the Sunbeam Ruins, as one of Aquitania's yearly pageants took place there. On one such trip, she met a young skydancer around her age, and though the other dragon tended to be harsh and unwelcoming the two somehow became friends. The skydancer came to see Aquitania's pageants each year after that despite how insecure they made her feel, and Aquitania greatly appreciated the gesture and looked forward to seeing her and her clanmates in the audience. One year, just as Aquitania was coming of age, her friend didn't come to the pageant. She spent the whole time scanning the crowd for any sign of the skydancer, but although a few of her clanmates were there she was nowhere to be seen. The skydancer's older sister, a withdrawn dragon who was clearly haunted by something in her past, wasn't there either, and after the pageant Aquitania approached one of the dragons she recognized from her friend's clan to ask about the unexplained absences. It was then that Aquitania learned that her friend had died, having drowned in a sinkhole after sustaining wounds that seemed suspiciously like they'd been inflicted by a harpy. Horrified and saddened, Aquitania elected not to participate in the next year's pageant out of respect, a decision which earned her a great deal of disapproval from her mother and ultimately led her to leave her birth clan to live with her cousins Lusitania and Mauretania, who had taken up residence in the Sunbeam Ruins alongside her old friend's sister. Her friend's sister, who was now a guardian rather than a skydancer, was pleased to see her and informed her that she'd taken the name Olympic and that her sister had been posthumously named Britannic. Aquitania now works as a model for Musa, Cameron, and Carmania, something she enjoys far more than beauty pageants and the like. She's gained a reputation for being able to get along with even the most difficult dragons, and she's told her clanmates everything she remembers about Britannic. She's even confronted Olympic about her neglect toward her sister, something which left Olympic saddled with even more horror and guilt but has helped her to grow as a person and learn to show her loved ones what they mean to her before it's too late. Aquitania credits herself with bringing about this change, and Olympic has voiced no objections. |
