► CHARACTER
H.O.B.B.I.T.-PRESS, or simply H.P to most people, is a kind, nerdy fellow. It is quite awkward, but in a charming way, always caring far too much about everything, making sure everything is organized and done in the neatest possible way. It seems this passion, along with its love of order and organization, has served it well in its line of work. It has many strange phobias and fears, such as small animals, logical fallacies, sets of four, the color pink, and dairy products. It also possesses a broken-down pseudo-mechincal body that constantly malfunctions and short-circuits, causing it to be wracked with phantom pains and mutations constantly. Despite its fears and disabilities, it is a courageous sort, and would risk its life to protect someone it cares about. H.P's kindness attracts all sorts of people, most of them weird and wonderful. Those who would seek to exploit him for their own gain are few and far between.

Birdarang, Skyward Sun Temple wrote:
“Nest needed?” it asked. It hadn’t taken the strange mechanical creature very long to find the project dens, where many dragons were in need of a partner. Pinwheel didn’t mind taking the plunge, deciding to nest with the automaton after a quick scrying found their colour matches to be favourable. However, it had already been decided that H.O.B.B.I.T.-PRESS would not stay at the Temple after the hatchlings arrived. Marrow found far too much high-level sensing equipment to allow the thing to stay anywhere near long enough to learn much about the clan.

"Nest needed?" it asked. It had speedily found the project dens, and took up vigil at their entrance. Despite needing a mechanical rest period between uses, similar to biological dragons' breeding cycles, it continued to ask. "Nest needed?"
No matter how many times it was told no, it continued to ask. "Nest needed?" The residents finally got rid of it by pretending they'd heard of another clan who needed its help. Belief, Mistral Clan wrote:
HobbitPress arrived in the middle of a bright and hot sunny day, and he instantly flew towards the nesting grounds. It was as surprised as an automaton can be to see that they were all absolutely barren and absolutely empty. It soon found, much to its disappointment, that the clan disliked having a great many hatchlings needlessly, so the nests were always empty unless they knew the little ones would be wanted.
Searching the clan, he stumbled upon a young, tawny Tundra frowning at the sky above her. It asked what it always asked a female dragon upon first sight. "Nest needed?" She paused to look at him, and shook her head solemnly. "No, thank you. I can never have hatchlings." "Nest needed?" "No, I can't," she repeated, annoyed. "I can't have hatchlings." "Nest needed?" HobbitPress repeated again, but it was no longer asking if she really needed a nest; it was asking why, asking all sorts of questions within the two words. "I'm a Moonbeast," she sighed. "And I'm of the Fire flight, which only makes it worse. Any strong emotion can set me off on a rampage." HobbitPress had heard of these creatures, dragons of the night that became wild and unpredictable at times. "Nest needed?" "We need to fix that," she replied dryly. "And no." HobbitPress was brought to the clan mechanics that day, where they quickly expanded its vocabulary, and instantly, it was a new dragon, with new words. As soon as the operation was done, it found the Tundra from the previous day. "Hello," It greeted, and she looked up with a small smile. "Why, hello. It's nice to hear something new." "Yes. Do you want hatchlings?" The other dragon paused to stare at him. "They may have fixed your words up, but there's still a repetitive short in your brain," she said at last. "No. I can't." "You can, I think. I think. My purpose. My purpose is to help. You can have hatchlings." That was how HobbitPress, who came to be dubbed HP, met Lelou, and the couple had a pair of hatchlings together, which they named Akasuki and Akemi. Lelou loved the automaton for giving her hatchlings, but HP was programmed to travel and help others, so it soon became restless and wanted to leave in search of other clans. It brought Akasuki, his son with him, in hopes to teach him a purpose. aquilastar wrote:
Arriving at a small lair in the middle of the shifting expanse, HobbitPress turned to Akasuki. "Why don't you say hello?" It asked, gesturing to the confused dragons who were beginning to stare as they paused in their daily routine.
Its son looked up at him, seemingly reluctant before muttering a brief 'hello'. The dragons were quite friendly though, and they stayed there for a week. HobbitPress marvelled at how much its son had grown in such a short time - he was an adult now. Finally, Hobbitpress suggested that they moved on, its restless heart longing to travel. |
