The Mirror paced across the wall surrounding the Overcity, thinking hard. He knew his family legacy, he knew what his true purpose was supposed to be, and yet he was stuck guarding this wall. This stupid wall. He was told Plague dragons were strong, they were survivors, and yet everyone stayed in this stupid wall. Nikolas was supposed to be a strong fighter, someone to protect all dragons wherever he went, but the most he could do is guard the wall (where NOTHING happened!) with all the other Mirrors in the clan. And they didn't even seem to care!

He needed to find a way to fulfill his destiny, a way to protect the dragons around him. Even if it meant breaking the rules he'd sworn to uphold and leaving the city without permission. He knew dangers hid outside of Opovder, but that's what he had to do if he wanted to keep his family's honor.

And besides, nothing wrong would happen. He was one of Vitali's Warriors, after all.

Everything hurt. He covered the right side of his face and stumbled into his den. He removed his talons, and sure enough, his right eyes were gone. He was too proud, too sure of himself, but it wouldn't happen again. He wrapped bandages across his face, and searched for something to hide it in the long term. A mask, perhaps, and then he would never take it off. No one would learn of his failure, and he would train. Train to fight anything that would be a danger to his clan.

He failed once. Never again.
