TINKERER & LEADER OF THE ARCANE SCIENTISTS
TINKERER & LEADER OF THE ARCANE SCIENTISTS
Before joying Wayfarer's Rest, Spitz traveled most of the world, chasing and studying anything that caught his eye. However at one point something (or rather someone) caught his eye as well, and he ended up traveling with Karuka and Cobalt for a time before Karuka officially started her clan. The trio formed a three-mating for quite some time, but as the years passed Spitz drifted apart, becoming more and more interested in his work than relations with fellow clanmates. With how Wayfarer's Rest has grown, he now finds his fighting capabilities required less and less, which is fine by him as it gives him now the maximum amount of free time possible to pursue his experiments and inventions. In the process he "founded" (not really as there were plenty of dragons studding similar things during and likely even before his time) his specialty as the "Arcane Sciences," which consists of integrating Arcane magic and Lightning technology together. While this field of study originated as his own personal project, he's accumulated enough of a following to now have two lab assistants, plus periodic guests who come to Wayfarer's Rest to study his technique and projects. Unfortunately he's not terribly interested in interacting with others unless it's strictly necessary, and between that and the fact his inventions are mostly for his own amusement, he comes off as self absorbed. However this doesn't mean he doesn't do work that benefits others. Quartz's sniper helmet, for example, was a project primarily headed by Spitz (even if he did allow her to assist for some of the project). The problem is, you never know whether what he's working on will actualy be useful to anyone or not, and due to the rapid fast pace his mind works, even for a Spiral, it's doubtful that even Spitz knows what's going to come of it. His work and inventions are mostly for his own amusement, but oftentimes they will also benefit others, such as Quartz's sniper helmet. The problem is, you never know whether what he's working on will be useful or not, and due to the rapid fast pace his mind works, even for a Spiral, it's doubtful that even Spits knows what's going to come of it. His assistants, Quartz and Cassie, are more often finding themselves in the positions of clean-up crew or translators as even they struggle to keep up with their leader sometimes. |
F O R M E R F A M I L I A R • R E S I D U E While he comes up with all sorts of new odds and ends, Spitz isn't as creative as one would think outside of that, resulting in two rather boringly named familiars. The first was Saku the Sakura owl, and then it was Residue the...well...residue. It was left behind when the clan's original alchemist,Twelve, moved into her own workspace and he was about to dispose of it before realizing it was sentient. Since Saku had grown irritable with his dragon companion, Spitz was in need of someone he could babble his thought process out loud to and the gelatinous thing seems to be a more attentive listener than the owl. Plus it's low maintenance! And yet Spitz is so terrible at taking care of familiars that even a slime moved out to join it's kin once Malachite started making slime friends of her own. |
F O R M E R F A M I L I A R • S A K U Saku was Spitz's earliest traveling companion, something the Spiral could talk out loud to and feel like someone was listening. The two were quite close, or at least they were until Spitz's work and Wayfarer's Rest started to really dig in roots and expand. Surrounded by dragons all the time and even gaining assistants, Spitz didn't feel the need to speak to others as much (though he'd still talk out loud, he didn't care who did or did not hear), and in a bustling lab it was too easy for a much smaller creature to get underfoot. Saku still lives within the clan's territory and older dragons find him a friendly sight, but he has little to do with Spitz any longer. |
