Biography
(Music for Dragons - "Action Strike" by Yuriy Melnik)
Oran is one of my original fighters and still a frequently-used grinder; he was instrumental in building this clan up from nothing!)
(L25, Kelp Beds grinder/trainer/bosshunter, currently part of Plague/Ice duo w/Azakar. Not strictly speaking an optimal setup, but it works.
For my other KB duo, see Silime & Odile)
Oran is the fiercest warrior in his clan, perhaps the finest fighter who ever lived - just ask him! (But, ask it quietly, if Williwaw (before her strange 'sleep'), Azakar, or Jagvara happen to be nearby.) He embodies in his tiny Nocturne form the truism that size and brawn alone do not make a great warrior; he defies the expectation that Nocturnes make for poor and unfocused fighters in claw-to-claw combat.
Oran was among the first since the clan was formed to venture into the most dangerous regions, fighting side-by-side with Williwaw and Carregwaed, the clan's Nocturne founders, and Staccato the "world's most indestructible" Spiral (who these days is.... changing....). This fact might have swelled Oran's head a size or two too big, but he can back up his seemingly wild (if exciting and well-sung) tales with true skill.
Fierce from the time he was a hatchling gamely pouncing upon larger dragons' toes, Oran scorned the notion that he should use his fine voice to become a singer and a teller of tales, rather than one whom tales were written about. Those who challenge him learn what fighting alongside a Haste-sped Spiral did for a young mimic who can hardly resist a challenge or a chance to prove his worth; utterly unable to match her for speed, he surely tried, until pride and stubborn determination drove him to learn to anticipate those rapid movements and make his strikes cost his opponents dearly.
It cost him too of course, to spend so much time trying to track a speedy Spiral's movements, in really nasty headaches. Draconic migraines are still referred to as "Oran's Ill" since the term was coined by battle-healer Carregwaed, in fact..... Much to Oran's annoyance.
He does have quite a nice voice, by a Nocturne's measure, and uses it to proudly crow his victories to the bemused larger dragons - who still cannot quite wrap their minds around the idea that their lair's greatest warriors are among its smallest. That Gloynbywdur the Iron Butterfly, the diminutive Fae fighter, tries to mimic him makes Oran almost unbearably smug.

It appears this light egg was actually a Shimmy Shimmer Mimic! They like to throw parties when dragons are trying to study, making them great friends for both hatchlings and the literature-averse.
