Azakar

A Plague dragon risen from the dead to do battle on behalf of a Wind clan? Evidently so, though Clan Tangleroost's Loremaster grimly insists this is impossible, and that something else must inhabit the reinvigorated Mirror who was but an animated husk when he was found....

Whichever is the case, it is rumored that the Shadow sorceress Maemd had something to do with this, particularly as her nests were blessed twice running with Wind Primal hatchlings since Azakar's life was fully restored. But she seems never to have commanded him as she does the clan's other less-than-living allies, and she has never actually made the claim herself that she raised him from the dead - though she does not deny that she aided in restoring him fully to a living state, as she has also done for Doomshine the Imperial. (More or less.)

Azakar himself either has no answers, or is giving none that he knows.

At first composed of little more than desiccated remnants, he regained his living essence little by little, regrowing tough hide that shines like metal and guards like armor over now-living flesh and bone. His wings, tattered and dry as old leaves before, retain dark markings where they once were torn and charred; wisps of power still seethe and blaze around one set of claws, crawling up to the shadowy scars marking his chest and side when at their strongest. At times, this ghostly flame pains him, causing him to limp, and to resort to the blade he carries for when claws and fangs are not enough.

It does seem to cause more than pain, however. At a touch from his burning talon, Stalost the Iron Golem was filled with its flame, and awoke to a metallic semblance of life.

A tough, stubborn Mirror with extra-sharp edges, Battlemaster Azakar is the clan's most fearsome, fearless, and skilled of warriors. He is often found fighting alongside Mohala and Odile these days, as well as being frequently seen in the company of a certain clever Spiral with a rapier wit, has befriended the grouchy Banescale Kalleriyal (to their mutual surprise), and is most often found with another highly skilled warrior, the noble Skydancer Síocháin, and the gentle Coatl healer Malakáfterá. Together with these latter two, Azakar braves the most dangerous of battles as though death cannot touch him... at least, not again.

Though Azakar is the most famed warrior and trainer of the clan, others now share the load and the limelight. Among them are - Banescale "Auntie" Jagvara the Wanderer, a student of Williwaw, was the first, and Mohala, a former student of Azakar, is the unlikely second, to be designated Aides to the Battlemaster by the clan's co-founder and first warrior, Williwaw herself. Azakar respects the fierce Banescale Jagvara, but finds Mohala's chosen styles of dress and combat to be annoyingly showy. He cannot fault the Pearlcatcher's results, but....

There are many more, now, but Azakar will always be the First Battlemaster of Tangleroost.
