Biography

M O N A R C H
"he who lives up to his name"

~~~~
Uh-oh, looks like this shiny boy wandered a little too far from his home lair (MoonlilyluvsCas), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you do not want a traveler in return, you can send him to the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub! This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!
Mini Biography of the Great Monarch
You can be assured of one thing if the great Monarch visits your clan - his only purpose is to lighten the load of what's in your pockets. He carries out his crimes with such aristocratic grace that most mistake him to be from money, and will ignore his more eccentric behaviors. That is, of course, until he makes off with their most precious possessions.
Monarch's Journal:
St0rmbringer Storm’s End
After the harrowing journey through the Twisting Crescendo to reach the eye, Monarch stayed in the towering spires and windy bridges of Storm’s End for a while, gaining favor with the locals and eyeing up the possibilities… when he realized something. He’d never be able to make it back through the storm without their escort.
After a couple weeks’ thought, he made an announcement at a party he was attending. He really would hate to go, but the winds were changing and it seemed only fair to follow them… although he certainly would miss them all! He wished them the best but it was here they must part. The following morning, the clan’s leader escorted him through the Crescendo. He offered her a charming smile, sweeping a wing in a little bow. “A shame we must part ways, but it was lovely making your acquaintance! I hope we meet again.
She eyed him, unsmiling. “It would be better if we don’t, given the plundered treasures in your ‘traveling satchel’. Do not come back here.” As she wheeled back into the clouds, Monarch winced. Storm’s End had been lovely… but he could do without seeing it again.
MoonlilyluvsCas The Fount of Travelers
What Monarch needed was a clan full of idiots. Or perhaps a clan that had dragons coming in and out of it constantly. He waited patiently, hopping from clan to clan to find the right one, stealing only small items here and there as he went. Until he found the right clan.
The Fount of Travelers. This was a sanctuary designed for traveling dragons. There were many dragons that lived here and the clan was always expanding to allow for new visitors to stay for a while. There were always a lot of dragons coming and going. It helped that their caretaker was a bit of an airhead. A fellow Skydancer by the name of Axolotl. He also had a regal air about him, however that image was often sabotaged by the flour that he had smeared on his fancy jewelry, from baking his beloved desserts. Pfft. The man was ridiculous. But he also didn't seem to notice whenever Monarch nabbed precious items and gold from the visiting dragons just before they left.
It seemed like a good arrangement to Monarch, causing him to stay with their clan for a long time. In fact, he considered staying there forever, until one dragon caught him stealing-- a spooky Wildclaw called Whisper. She had just returned to the Fount of Travelers, her home clan, and was not happy to see it being pilfered. Monarch decided to give this clan some time and space away from him. He figured in time they would forget about the incident and he'd be able to return, if and when he needed to, making this his new home lair.
Strangeflesh Corrosionius
Monarch wormed his way into the depths of Corrosionius, pick-pocketing from the local circuses and farms. He tried to charm the locals, but none of them were having it.
There was an interesting Obelisk dragon, by the name of Cutaneous, that Monarch thought would be an easy mark, however she had other plans for him. As he reached for her pocket where her father's locket was, she turned towards him and stabbed one of her keeled-scales into his hand, before fleeing from him. He screamed in pain and shouted, as thorns began to grow from the wound, and up his arm. The pain was so strong that he nearly blacked out. Luckily for him, he was able to stay calm and remove the scale from his hand.
He was safe-- for now. Although his arm was badly hurt, he began to limp away from the town, deciding that he would never visit them again. What an awful town.
Festivoog Oculus Clan
Monarch ended up taking refuge in the Starwood Strand where he encountered Nova on a scavenging trip. In exchange for some medicine, he offered to help her find materials and trinkets. He was so polite and honest that she immediately accepted his help! He spent a few nights recovering with the Oculus Clan and then joined them on some gathering expeditions. Nobody seemed to notice that he only returned with low-level items, and when they did, they chalked it up to his injury. When Monarch was sufficiently recovered, he took his leave, along with a few emerald rings and other valuable trinkets. His arm still ached, but at least his treasure stash had grown once again!
Silverwolf123 Winter Valley
The nights in Winter Valley generally ran frightfully cold, and due to the unusually cold weather, Evan and Void, were patrolling the area. The pair of Gaolers had think coats which helped them withstand the freezing temperatures while the sun slept.
They were surprised to see a campfire in the distance... and a lonely dragon curled up underneath a tree, as stray dragons weren't commonly found in this area. Luckily for Monarch, their orders were already set to assist anyone who is in need. Using the offered kindness to his advantage, Monarch asked for shelter in the night. Accepting the request, Void escorted him into the hideouts that were hidden deep within the Winter Valley, impossible for a stranger of the land to find. Void led Monarch straight to the clan leader, Luna, who dealt with all dragons visiting the clan.
Monarch was shocked, and a little scared, to see a dragon fully covered with scars whose face was hidden under a wolf cape. "You needn't worry, we have no interest in hurting you. Quite the opposite, really. We'd like to help you, but to do that, I need you to tell me how you ended up in our territory." Despite her appearance, she talked to him in a gentle voice. Monarch's fear disappeared quickly and they ended up talking the whole night. Luna was interested in hearing stories about Monarch's various travels. "Listen, we won't judge you for your past crimes. Everyone here has a complicated past. How do you think I got these scars?"
Monarch found himself interested in hearing what her clan could offer, but more importantly, why so many dragons had decided to stay in such a place, so far away from any civilization, in such a harsh environment. He was surprised to hear how many dragons were looking for a place they could call home and where they could live for the rest of their life in peace. But perhaps he somehow understood the point as he saw how everyone got along. The idea of living a peaceful life was tempting. However, in the end, Monarch decided that he would rather continue his journey. He was more interested in traveling and discovering new places, and all of the secrets that the world held.
Luna chuckled to herself as she listened to Monarch's ambitions. "The decision is yours. I won't stop you, but promise me one thing. Remember that you will always be welcome here. I would love to hear more stories about your travels. Until then goodbye!" He looked back at her and waved, before he was heading towards his next destination.
After traveling around Sornieth for a while, Monarch found himself on the coast of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, the Tidelord's domain. He had never traveled this close to the sea before and as he wandered closer to the waves, watching them paint patterns in the soft sand, the sound of voices and laughter grew louder and louder. It wasn't long before he found himself amidst a group of dragons led by Mahanon, who turned out to be the leader of a very large clan that lived in these parts.
As the sun began to set, they invited Monarch over to their district of the Flotsam Town, for a filling meal and a good night's rest. As he had spent the better part of the day with them, Monarch happily accepted. They started to head towards the town, while exchanging stories of past experiences and adventures. He was taken in by the Clan's warm welcome, and decided to stay with them for a few more days to rest and recharge, before moving on to his next big adventure.
QueenRed Shades' Run
Monarch ended up following a band of misfit dragons to a small, obscure clan. On the edge of the territory, stood a large Inn for weary travelers. He looked around at the different sized groups, and the wide varieties of dragons in all of them. Travelers of all kinds-- young, old, big, small, and all breeds. He was filled with shock that all of these creatures were able to get along and help each other. He shook his head, one meal, then I leave.
