treasure hunter of the icefields | x, x, x

Kyou has ever treated the Icefields as her realm. Born to a mercenary mother and raised in the icy wilds, she considers herself the grandest the frost has to offer: independent, clever, and fierce. Early on, she learned the divide between the denizens of the ice and travelers. Her mother would guide soft-bellied drakes from the mainlands through the tundra, some seeking a better home and some seeking the pennisula's frozen treasures, but none had the keen mind for survival that those born to the ice did. They were cut different, her mother said, and as a child Kyou pushed herself to earn those sorts of compliments.

Kyou's companion is Motley the painted marionette, an enchanted puppet that has always been her childhood toy. Her mother has never been upfront about Motley's origins — certainly nothing about a bittersweet memory from Kyou's father... — but he has accompanied Kyou on most of her adventures. He typically hangs from her pack, startling others when he moves and his eyes glow on their own accord.
