Ekrem was born to the Beacon, nestled before his memory even began in the runic claws of the Lightweaver. His father was a youthful coatl who had been exalted into her service: it was not uncommon that the Lightweaver often took favor with those who held her mantle, and she was no unkind mother to those she brought into life. On the tenth day when Ekrem's eyes opened, the Lightweaver named him herself: Ekrem, a word from before there was sun or moon, when her light still filled the nether space like balloons in the wind. His temperament proved to be as petulant as the stars had once been. The Beacon was a haven and he an esteemed member among its priests — but his mother's cryptic truths taunted him, and Ekrem was driven to discover the world himself, as she had always intended. He appears to be a mere crafter, but there is always something peculiar about his work... puppets whose bead eyes glow, bulbs that never grow dim — it is but his experience, Ekrem will claim, and no one can deny that while he works on his own schedule, he at least does it well.
