Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this endangered geode wandered a little too far from his home lair (KingVulture, 437722), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting him!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on travelling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

Rigaudon would like to receive a permanent home someday, so if you'd like to adopt him after he's been travelling long enough, just let his owner know!

Rigaudon was born with crystalized growths on him, which were a bright purplish color that stood out from the rest of his body. As a result, he's been nicknamed "Geode" and "Amethyst" for much of his life.

Although the clan of Crow Callers was safe for him, and he even received many compliments about these shard-like growths, he later found out that some greedy dragons believed his crystals had mystical properties, potentially putting his life in danger. Mirfak, a longtime menace to Crow Callers, supposedly saw Rigaudon in the woods one day, and came to Crow Callers many times demanding to have him for his own.

Rigaudon remembered that his sister started traveling, and he believed that was the best course of action for him as well. Sparrow, Rigaudon's brother, tried to talk him out of it originally, but Rigaudon pointed out that Mirfak was a complete monster and could potentially put the clan in danger if he stayed too long. Sparrow reluctantly agreed, asking Rigaudon to be safe out there.

Rigaudon decided to bring Saffron with him to his first stop, another dragon who felt as though he was at risk.

Rigaudon found sanctuary in a beautiful garden glen, a place for travelers from all across the world to come to rest. No one looked at him strangely here, and there were other strange dragons here as well, some even refugees like him. He spent quite a bit of time here, finally finding peace on his own.

But as time went on, he got this itching feeling like staying for too long in the same place might not be a good idea. The people were wonderful here, the Caretaker was kind and generous. But what if he were inadvertently putting them all in danger? What if Mirfak was still hunting him, and it was only a matter of time before he discovered his whereabouts? He couldn't do that to these people. So Rigaudon moved on, swearing to himself that he'd not settle down until he was absolutely sure it was safe to do so.

Riguadon made it to Terreneuvia simply by chance- by stumbling onto a boat that was docked in a bay near the sanctuary. Thankfully, the owner of the boat was kind and offered him a delicious meal. So, soon after the goaler made it aboard, Riptide set off with him. The journey was long, but not so much that Riguadon couldn't handle it. The things he did struggle with were the darker spots of the ship, which held the looming threat of giving Mirfak an excellent hiding place. So despite the welcoming atmosphere of the boat, a constant sense of doom hung over Riguadon.

They eventually made it to Terreneuvia, a small island nearly always cloaked with fog. It's deep forests held the same threat as the shadows on the boat, though Riguadon managed to steer clear of constant fear by staying on the unusually sunny shores and meadows that bordered the heavily forested middle of the island. Though eventually, the sense of doom managed to get back to him. Even in the bright sunlight, on this island with unknown whereabouts and a shield of fog, Mirfak could be anywhere. So Riguadon managed to flag Riptide down again, and took a ride off the island as soon as possible.

Rigaudon decided against his best interests to visit home again. He left soon after he saw sign of Mirfak, and a draconic/cervine monster named Cervus, though.

Rigaudon chose to seek sanctuary at the Oasis for a while. Surely the choking cloud of toxic fog surrounding the city would ward off Mirfak if he came near? It took all of his own magical expertise to protect himself from it; he stayed at the city for several days tending to his chemical burns alone.

And although he didn't see any sign of the dragon who plagued him during his stay there, there was still something else that sparked his sense of danger. Shadows out of the corner of his eye. Dragons that stared for a little too long when he passed them in the streets. A looming sense of dread that he knew not to ignore.

There were too many other dragons in the Oasis for him to be truly comfortable here. A crowd of dragons coming and going; strangers he couldn't know the intention of, for he was no Arcane dragon and no mind-reader. It was a place his hunter could easily hide in... or someone else who held the same intents as him.

So as soon as he could he set off, searching for another place that didn't make him feel quite so hunted.

Rigaudon eventually trekked his way down to the Reclaimer's Glacier, figuring if he could find a safe place it'd probably be in his ancestral home. He felt at home on the vast expanse of ice and snow, and for awhile he figured he was the only one out there in the harsh environment. That was until he awoke one morning to the smell fresh roasted meat and greens, and upon opening his eyes he nearly jumped out of his fur when he spotted A golden Gaoler. She was slightly smaller than him but had a lot of spunk, and gave him a laugh at how startled he was.

She introduced herself as Rodelle, and she seemed to have a similar gemstone affliction as Rigaudon. They ate breakfast together and talked for awhile, speaking about various things,
'this is an odd place to see a plague dragon'
'same with fire elementals i suppose'
'how'd you get down here on your own?'
'i walked'
'*snort* well duh, but most dragons don't have an easy time travelling this far on their lonesome'
'*shrugs* i dunno i just got here'
'i feel as though you need a place to stay, why not follow me to my clan? they have some good food and plenty of places to stay'
'i feel like you're not giving me a choice'
'nope :)'.

and with that Rodelle delightfully led Rigaudon to a large conifer tree in the middle of the glacier, how he managed to miss it is beyond him. He looked around and was about to snarky about 'how full the town was' before Rodelle grabbed him and pulled him away from a cliff edge, the two watched as some icicles dropped down below. She teased him for almost falling down the crevasse before showing him the way to walk down it, following a path carved into the ice, it wound down and crisscrossed between the sides of the ravine before dropping the two gaolers in the middle of the clan. He continued following Rodelle as she took him to a grill shop where a sparkly banescale coked them up some food, before Rodelle showed him the local inn called The Wayward.

Rigaudon stayed at the inn and got settled in with the daily life of the Moonbleeder clan, getting to know more of the local dragons and finding out that most find the notion of crystal growths having special properties to be an outrageous concept. He was calmed in knowing none of the dragons here would be after his mulberry shards, but he still couldn't help but feel that this wasn't the best place to stay. This was a strange space based superstitious flock of dragons who would shy away from the sight of constellation and star-mapped dragons, though some were also bowed down to. He couldn't exactly wrap his mind around these other superstitions so after finding Rodelle and waiving goodbye to her to took back off on the road again, trying to find a more 'normal' place to stay.
