Cervus

Cervus had always been fascinated by deer and other cervids from a young age; it was part of what he was named after. He thought that deer were powerful and majestic animals. As it turned out, there was a reason for his obsession - there was a curse in his family that caused the current carrier of it to occasionally turn into a deer-like monster. As it turned out, Cervus was the latest carrier of the curse, and his first transformation happened as a young adult. It was excruciating, as first transformations often are - but he enjoyed how free he felt, and began to attack other dragons, including his own family and former friends.

His family explained the curse to him, letting him know that it was possible for him to be cured of it. If he wasn't cured within a certain timeframe, he'd eventually turn into his monstrous form forever, with no possible antidote... but to Cervus, that was what he wanted.

Cervus tried to accelerate the process, occasionally seeing if he could make himself transform - and he often could. It didn't matter to him that he was leaving his old life behind, or that his former loved ones were being harmed by him. He knew what he was doing.

One day, it finally happened. Nothing that any of his loved ones could do would change him back, causing Cervus to become stuck in his monstrous form forever. He laughed as he escaped into the woods, eventually becoming a mercenary to Deer's Death... even if many of the clan's members are also afraid of him.
