Night Warrior

B I O G R A P H Y

Ciri was never the type to burst out of their shell. While other dragons came out aggressively and ready for life, Ciri came gently. They carefully clawed their way out and carefully stepped out into the nest on wobbling legs. Ciri’s older sisters were already playing and nipping, but Ciri quietly cuddled into the reeds on the nest and promptly fell asleep. Ever since then, Ciri was a soft and gentle dragon. They always had a particular love of the night sky. While their sisters trained to become part of the illustrious Night Warriors, Ciri would sit on the roof of their mansion and make star charts.

As Ciri grew older and continued to watch their sisters become paladins and warriors, strange abilities began to develop. From their Viking ancestor, Ciri became deeply connected with the sky in all manners. They couldn’t do anything wildly spectacular, but they learned to shape clouds. It was delightfully fun and allowed them to be able to make better star charts. From their Celestial lineage, Ciri learned that they were naturally good with astrology. Not like young dragons who read books about it for fun, but much like a sage. Ciri became able to tell the future and make accurate predictions based on the stars. From the Wardens, Ciri developed a calming aura. They were naturally at peace and could easily extend that aura to others to calm and soothe them.

Ciri became quite useful to their powerful older sisters. When they went out to fight and protect their lands, Ciri would divine their futures and protect them. They would soothe their sisters’ minds before combat so they could relax more. Despite not being a big strong warrior, Ciri was still useful to their sisters. It really made them feel good about themselves. While their sisters were out training or taking on dangerous missions, they were perfectly content studying, knowing that it was helping.

Until, one day, their oldest sister didn’t return. Beloved Alyse never came home. Ciri waited everyday for her to return, but she never did. Ciri began to get anxious. What if she never came home? It was just supposed to be a simple trip to scout some beastclans. She was surely still there. Ciri has foresaw that everything would be alright. It was supposed to be an easy choice.

It was all Ciri’s fault. They had told Alyse that everything would be okay and that the mission would be easy and they were wrong. Maybe if Ciri had gone with them, nothing bad would’ve happened.

Ciri became terribly ill. They were suffering from literal heartbreak over the confirmed death of their sister. Ciri’s parents weren’t the most supportive about it. Ciri’s parents insisted that if they had just accepted their destiny to become a warrior, Alyse never would’ve died. The entire clutch should have been warriors. They didn’t need sages. Night Warriors were never meant to be passive.

It tore Ciri apart. They had squandered their life with stars and clouds. They had been so selfish. Ciri reluctantly began training. Being much older than most untrained warriors, Ciri immediately felt out of place, but they continued working hard, if only for their sister. They worked until they were as strong as Alyse had been, then they kept going. They just wanted to stop the conflict and make a world where no one had to lose their family.
