Olethros wasn't sure how long it had been since his summoning. His summoner - his Master, really - was strong; stronger than he had anticipated. He never thought he would feel such anger being summoned, but the sight of his mate sleeping peacefully with their two unhatched children at her side as he was pulled away drove him into a rage he'd never felt before. His rage got him nowhere; he was beaten soundly by his summoner's magic, pinned down as an enchanted necklace and bracelets - he preferred the term chains - were swiftly clamped on. Though they were loose, he knew the moment they touched him that he couldn't remove them. His summoner asked what he was. Was he a King? No, he was not. He had no choice. He told his summoner how to summon a King; she'd gotten it just a tad wrong, it seemed, and so she got him instead. But even with her magical prowess, she was too tired to summon once again. Not until months later. Those months were both the longest and shortest of his life. He knew she would use him. He knew that, if she used him, she would most certainly summon his mate. The months came and went, and the summoning began. He was right. A familiar shape came into view, dragged from their world into the dragons' world. He hated that he was right. Yet when the summoning finished, Olethros could not help but cringe in fear. His rage at being summoned was barely a candle compared to the wildfire burning in his mate's eyes: he'd never seen her so angry. Then he saw why. There, at his mate's feet, lay a single cracked egg. His eyes widened, yet he could only watch as his mate screamed in her rage, her magic exploding outwards and flattening a portion of forest. Perhaps she did not see it. Perhaps she thought it was left behind. Perhaps she was so blinded by rage that she no longer cared. He didn't know. The egg vanished from sight, launched away by the explosion of magic from its own mother, and he could only watch. The battle between his mate and the summoner began. He could only watch. |
