Anger could not describe what she felt the moment her mate was torn away. No word known to Goetia and dragonkind alike could embody the pure, boiling rage that burned within her, taunting her, tempting her to attempt to use her magic to rip a portal open and drag him back to their rightful home herself.

But she couldn't. Something else quelled her rage just enough to keep her, trembling from the battle within, in her home. She couldn't leave now. She couldn't leave for years.

Yet the time came where she had no choice.

And it came at the worst time.

She felt the summoning begin just as she lay still, watching as her firstborn nosed his way into the world. Terror and rage coursed through her, paralyzing her, twisting in and around her, squeezing the breath out of her body as if it was a serpent coiling around prey. Her thoughts screamed denial, anger, fear, so much fear. She was a King! No summoner had ever managed to summon her, though there certainly had been attempts.

She tried to resist.

She failed.

Why? Why now?
