AZIZI ZONDI "You wish you could afford me."

═══════════════════════════════════════════

He's a pretty little thing, Azizi. Small and lithe as a cat with eyes that sparkle with danger and the promise of a good time.

Hailing from the Expanse, Azizi was born and raised in a city known as Neo Necropolis. For a time he lived with his father, a man named Ayoola (Ayo for short), in a rundown apartment in the slums. His mother, a woman named Tiwa who went by the stage name Candy (she was a popular dancer at a local club), left when he was fairly young because she'd become fed up with his Ayoola’s bad habits and unfaithfulness.

With his mother out of the picture and his dad being the deadbeat that he was, all of the housework and stress rested squarely on Azizi's shoulders; the cooking, the cleaning, looking after his father, all of it was now his cross to bear.

He was far too young for that and things only got worse as his father grew more and more desperate for money to fuel his needs. To this day Azizi refuses to give up his secrets, the horrors of what he went through behind closed doors. The select few who do know understand just how bad things really were and cannot blame him for the direction he took in life or the cutthroat attitude he wears like a suit of armor.

It's no surprise then that Azizi eventually abandoned ship just like his mother, choosing to live on the streets and support himself the only way he knew how. Not a particularly ideal or safe way of life, but better than the alternative at the time. Furious, Ayoola screamed after him not to bother coming back.

“Don’t worry,” he’d replied, never once turning to look back, “I won’t!”

It was on 9th street in one of the roughest areas in Neo Necropolis that he met Chaka. At the time Azizi didn’t really know who Chaka was. Sure, he’d heard some rumors here and there but it took a lot more than idle gossip to impress him.

With a smile that oozed confidence, he introduced himself to Azizi as Chaka, kingpin of Neo Necropolis, and offered him a ride.

“Azizi,” he replied, “Unimpressed citizen of Neo Necropolis. Pay up or move on; my time isn’t free.”

The large men in flashy suits accompanying Chaka scowled, both taking a step closer as if they might rough him up for his rude response.

“Ha! Take it easy, boys,” Chaka chuckled lightly, pausing to light a cigarette, “I ain’t offended. In fact, how would you like to go out for drinks? Cozy little place I own called BLISS.”

“BLISS?” Azizi hummed, crossing his arms over his chest, “I know the place.”

It was bizarre, really. Most guys who stopped him didn’t bother with drinks and conversation and something about Chaka charmed him. The way he talked, the way he held himself like he was the most important person in the room. He wanted to be like that and maybe if he spent enough time with Chaka some of it would rub off on him.

“Okay,” he said finally, “I’m game- as long as you’re paying. I don’t pay for my own drinks.”

“Then after you, gorgeous,” Chaka replied, bowing as Azizi climbed inside the car, “Something tells me your life is about to change for the better, Azizi. Mine, too.”

Chaka was right, Azizi’s life did change dramatically. Whether it was for the better is up for debate but what isn’t was how much happier he was. The two of them were an unstoppable force. Once upon a time Azizi was used, taken advantage of then cast aside like trash night after night. Now when Azizi walked into a room people clamored and swooned, begging for him to just glance in their direction. No price was too high for a few hours with the Azizi and they (mostly Chaka) were raking in the dough.

The first gift Azizi ever received from Chaka was a beautiful white fur coat. It was the most expensive thing he had ever owned and now his most prized possession.

Not everything was good though. Running in Chaka’s circles meant that Azizi had headed down a dangerous path that there was no coming back from. The two would argue incessantly only to kiss and make up afterward every time. Most of their arguments were over Chaka’s jealousy which, in Azizi’s line of work, meant he was practically jealous all of the time despite him being the one pushing Azizi to continue doing what he was doing.

None of the other men and women working for him in Cloud Nine were subject to Chaka’s jealous outbursts, but then again none of them were dating the boss.

It was a few years after meeting Chaka and going to work for him that he met Gogo. Azizi had been in a particularly nasty fight with Chaka and, tearfully, had excused himself to go outside for a smoke when a couple of men started harassing him. Things were beginning to get out of hand when a sweet little voice shouted, ”Hey! Leave him alone!”

Both men turned and, seeing his opportunity, Azizi pulled a blade out from his high heeled boot and stabbed one of the brutes in the leg.

“Come with me,” Azizi had said, grabbing the kind stranger by the hand.

Back inside, Azizi finally got a better look at his “savior”. He was pretty, just as pretty as Azizi and the same height as well. His hair was long and teased, big mismatched doe eyes, one pink and the other blue framed by long eyelashes. His clothing was bright neon colors and covered in animal print, much like the rest of him.

“You really saved my bacon, babe. Thanks,” Azizi said, still looking him up and down, “What’s your name?”

“Gogo!” the bubbly man replied, “And like, you’re soooo welcome! Those guys were jerks and- wait! Didn’t you stab one of them? Is he going to be okay? Should we call someone-”

“He’ll be fine,” Azizi interrupted, unsure of how true that was, “So… you got a place to go?”

Gogo frowned, averting his gaze to the floor.

“Oh… not really,” he replied, “I was actually coming here to apply for a spot in Cloud Nine when I saw you and those guys and, like, you know the rest! You were there!”

“I think I can help with that,” Azizi smiled, “I’m pretty close with the boss.”

After that day the pair were inseparable. It was Azizi who introduced his new best friend to Chaka. It was a decision he'd end up regretting in time but, in hindsight, there was little he could have done differently. It was that or leave him to continue working and living on the streets and that would happen over his dead body.

Life was good for a while. If not good it was at least stable. However, things would not remain that way forever. After a series of events that left Azizi framed for a crime he didn't commit against Chaka, he fled with Gogo to the Wasteland. But not before a chance meeting with Big Boss who agreed to take both him and Gogo on as performers in The Velvet Fang. With their vast experience and their looks, it was no surprise that they became the star attractions at The Fang right away.

Along the way he and Big Boss got to talking and discovered that they had a lot more in common than they had initially thought. As it would turn out, Big Boss had also been framed for a crime he hadn’t committed, though the specifications were vastly different. In his case word had gotten back to Chaka that Azizi had sold him out and tipped off the cops about one of the warehouses where he kept s big stash of illegal lightning tech.

Why Chaka would believe that is still a sore subject even now. No matter how much they fought or how mean Chaka was to him, he would have never snitched. *Never.*

His life is much different these days. Not what one might call good per se, but far more stable and safe than waiting around in Neo Necropololis for Chaka to find him. The problem is he misses that old life as much as he hates it, misses the rush and the thrill that comes with being in the arms of a violent man. He misses the fame he once had in Neo Necropolis and the lifestyle that came with it.

The truth is no matter what he does to try and get rid of it, the itch to run back into the mouth of the beast is almost too much to bear. The only thing keeping him where he is right now is Gogo and his current boyfriend Gustav. Without them, he'd lose himself to the chaos of his past life and give in to his desire to self-destruct.

• Chaka is still on the hunt for him, but Azizi didn’t leave the city empty handed and is prepared to defend himself, Gogo, and all of the other people he’s come to love.

• Gogo is the only person that Azizi is truly “soft” with. The only other people (currently) who come close are Gustav, Trevelyan, and Justinian.

• His weapon of choice is a bright neon pink, high tech tommy gun named Princess.

• Azizi has an addictive personality and currently suffers from several addictions.

• He’s a decent cook thanks to growing up fast and being forced to make all of his and his father’s meals but doesn’t really bother with it now.

• Azizi is trans.

• Doesn't get along with Cable at all.

• A malfunctioning body mod in his left eye is the reason why the sclera has turned dark.
