Gegaro shuffled his cards, humming while doing so. His father, Optical, watched with curiosity. As a child, Gegaro had not shown any promise at seeing the future, much to the disappointment of Optical. But now, he seemed to have picked up his fathers talent after all. Not as powerful as Opticals prophetic dreams, but still a way of seeing the future. Gegaro stopped, and picked out three cards from the deck, and placed them in front of Optical. He turned over each one, and hummed once more. "So?" Optical looked at his son, his interest peaked. Gegaro looked at him. "The cards tell me of your difficult past, your pleasant present, and your unpleasant future with me." Optical frowned. "Unpleasant? How so?" Gegaro began to pick up the cards once more, shuffled them back into his deck, and started to walk away. "Gegaro!" Optical called after him. He turned to look at his father. "I see that no matter what I do, no matter what I am, you will never see me as more than a tool." Gegaro turned and walked away, refusing to look back at Optical. Optical sat in the cave, listening to the waves crash against the shore line. After a while, Optical got up, and began back to his own cave to dream. e e |
