Swirl was hatched into a small lair struggling to survive in a remote region of the Highland Scrub. When a sizable group (including her father) gave up and left to serve the Stormcatcher, the rest scattered. Swirl ended up in the Exchanges, where Lakeisha and Gowan eventually found her. Ethereal and fragile as the flowers of the Starwood Strand, she was triad-bonded with Lotus, whose gentle nature made her feel soothed and safe, and Faeatia, who would seem to be a terrible match, but she dials the drama down just enough when she’s around the two of them, and somehow it works. Swirl is a Sensitive, exquisitely attuned to the subtlest energies of places and objects. Lakeisha occasionally calls upon her to do readings, but only rarely and with great care in order to avoid burning her out. As a Lightning dragon, Swirl sometimes finds the intense Arcane radiation of the Spire overpowering, so the pack makes sure that she spends a lot of time outside in the more neutral spaces of the upper woodlands; she especially enjoys relaxing beneath the open sky. Ironically, she’s a little afraid of all-out storms, but the charged atmosphere and rising winds that precede them make her feel clean and renewed. For Swirl, music is the heart and soul of life. She’s not a performer, though, so much as an explorer. Deeply shy, she finds places off by herself where she can experiment with an instrument and discover where its music takes her. The peak instrument that calls out to her is, appropriately enough, the Spire itself: the song of the wind through its carved tunnels, the resonances of its crystal halls. Slowly she’s teaching herself how to harmonize with its vast and complex music. Maybe someday she’ll even learn how to play the Spire itself. 
» Swirl can play a number of instruments, but her favorite is the theremin, which she associates with her father and her childhood. When Gowan presented her with one, she wept with joy. » The majority of the pack are extremely solicitous of her. She appreciates their care, but secretly she wishes she was emotionally stronger and less likely to dissociate or break down under pressure. | ********** |
