Astarrea: a starwood kami (great spirit) who lives in her territory in the Starwood Strand. She does not abide by trespassers who wander too deep into her domain, confusing the minds of mortals with the perfume of her starwood scent and causing hallucinations designed to result in ceaseless wandering amid the trees. These are normally fairly benign, and typically only turns trespassers away, but at times, if she is particularly angry, she will ravage their minds with illusions so horrible that they quickly lead to insanity.
She is not completely malevolent, however. So long as wanderers stay to the fringe of her territory, and so long as they are respectful towards her trees, she will inspire breakthroughs in mental blocks and grant intellectual clarity using the twinkling and aroma of the starwood blossoms. True, this is the same way as she would use them as a weapon, but she has complete control over how the flowers affect a mortal's mind.
In this way, she is a counterpart to her husband, Sanmei: a sakura kami who lives in a grove in her territory. She inspires intellect, while he inspires emotion. Meeting with him, however, is quite the feat, as it would require somehow travelling deep into Astarrea's territory to the Hoshizakura grove without earning either kami's ire and, in fact, gaining their favor.
